Chelsea's Kitchen 5040 North 40th Street•Phoenix, AZ •602-957-2555 Try to get a table on the back patio with its views of the Arizona canal. There's plenty to choose from, including burgers, taco plates, salads, ribs, rotisserie chicken and mac 'n cheese. A bonus: kids eat free daily from 3 to 6 pm. |
Cowboy Ciao 7133 East Stestson Drive•Scottsdale, AZ •480-946-3111 The decor -- gold stars on the ceiling, beaded crystal chandeliers, angel mural and butcher paper for drawing -- is almost as much fun as the fare. Foodie parents and teens as well as young kids can be happy here. The modern American cuisine mixed with a southwestern flair is really good. We loved the chopped salad, a mix of greens, smoked salmon and cous cous, as well as our panko-crusted halibut and the espresso-rubbed filet mignon. Along with items from a children's menu, kids -- and adults -- find such comfort food as quesadillas and mac n' cheese. |

Delux 3146 East Camelback Road•Phoenix, AZ •602-522-2288 Although Delux is a bar and grill, plenty of customers come more for the burgers than the beer. Frequently rated among the top burger joints in Phoenix, Delux's offerings come from vegetarian-fed beef. Kids will also like the French fries, served in toy-size shopping carts. Delux also serves salads and sandwiches. |
Eddie's House 7042 East Indian School Road•Scottsdale, AZ •480-946-1622 The mix of flavors is as welcoming as the eclectic decor that includes comfortable couches and photos of Eddie's kids. For appetizers, the seafood wontons with apricot sauce and the grilled honey-spiced chicken lollipops -- a kid-pleaser -- are great. Along with burgers, three kinds of chicken, and a children's menu, the restaurant serves braised pork pot roast, cilantro and ginger crusted tuna and other interesting entrees. |
Parlor Pizzeria 1916 East Camelback Road•Phoenix, AZ •602-248-2480 Opened in February 2010, the former beauty parlor turned Italian restaurant has gained a reputation for its designer pizzas. Of course, plain cheese and tomato are also available as are sandwiches, burgers and pasta. Try arriving early to avoid waiting. |
