Poconos Family Vacations
Poconos Family Vacations

Families will love:
- Old-fashioned resorts catering to families with family dining and daily activities
- Hiking, biking, rafting and other outdoor adventures
- Close proximity to New York City, Philadelphia and Baltimore
It may surprise some people to know that the Poconos region encompasses a vast 2,400 square miles in Pennsylvania and includes the state's Carbon, Monroe, Pike and Wayne counties. Those familiar with the area may remember it as the birthplace of the heart-shaped tub and the Honeymoon Capital of the World. And, while there are still some hotels in the region that cater to couples, the Poconos of today offer a variety of kid-friendly hotels and resorts, many with upscale accommodations and amenities, and plenty of fun activities for families. A family vacation in the Poconos is all about the outdoors, whatever the season. Outdoor adventures like hiking, biking, rafting and canoeing abound in summer, while skiing, hiking and indoor water parks are popular in colder months. Just a couple of hours from New York and Philadelphia, the Poconos are a popular and affordable weekend getaway for families who are near enough to drive; but, there is also plenty do in the area for families who opt to stay longer. When planning your family vacation, keep in mind that the Poconos are divided into five regions: Upper Delaware River Region, Lake Region, Delaware River Region, Mountain Region and Lehigh River Gorge Region.
