Quebec City Family Restaurants

Women wearing long skirts and the distinctive white Cape Breton-style caps serve crepes, the specialty at this restaurant. Choose from chicken, ham or seafood crepes as well as for dessert, crepes with caramel and ice cream, or peaches and ice cream.

In addition to good food, this glass-walled restaurant on the hotel's 27th floor offers panoramic views and lots of toys. As you dine, the restaurant revolves, slowly enough not to be intrusive but fast enough to be novel, offering different views of the city and the river. Kids can play with computer games, blocks, laser drawing boards, and for little ones trays with play frogs and other critters or place mats with items that pop up. If the toys aren't visible, just ask. There's a kids' menu, a buffet or a la carte breakfast, plus the restaurant serves lunch and dinner.

Specializing in fish and seafood, this restaurant exudes a French provincial feel with its blue-and-white checked tablecloths and blue, cream and yellow chairs. Opposite the port marketplace and within walking distance from the Old City's Lower Town, Poisson's specialties include mussels (12 versions are on the menu), bouillabaisse and the catch of the day. Lamb, chicken and steak are typically served as well. For kids the chef will do half-portions of certain entrees.

In the heart of the Old City's Upper Town, this restaurant offers an eclectic menu in a pub-style atmosphere. Along with steak and fries (frites), the menu's wide range of pasta, burgers, fajitas, fish and salads should please most kids. Although there's no children's menu, the chef is happy to make half-price, half-portions of certain dishes.

Located in the Old City's Lower Town near the Place-Royale in an historic building with thick stone walls, Spag & Tini offers serviceable, moderately priced (for Quebec's Old City) Italian fare. Dine inside or on the outdoor patio. Options include pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken and more family-favorites.
