Kids will love the calm waters of the beaches within the national park, but if you're looking for surf, that's also easy to find on the public beaches. The small town offers local shops and restaurants.

About an hour outside of town in the mountain range, families can go horseback riding and visit a sugar cane mill and waterfalls. Quepos has a little bit of everything and is small enough to not overwhelm families.
