Overview

Set in downtown Philadelphia, Radisson Blu is a historical building dating back to the 1920’s, which recently completed a $20-million renovation to transform itself into the Blu hotel concept, the third in the country to do so. Housed in the Rittenhouse Square district of Philadelphia, the hotel is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and features more than 300 well-pointed, spacious rooms with signature bedding, opening windows, sitting areas, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions and coffeemakers. One hundred and 89 Superior Rooms feature an Urban style with a modern atmosphere and splashes of color. Forty-six Deluxe Rooms offer seating areas and a more spacious layout, and 31 Executive Rooms offer upgrades like a bottled water, bathrobes and slippers and a Nespresso machine. All rooms provide free Wi-Fi.

Onsite dining is provides in Tavern 17, a classic tavern, and Prime Rib, which is a bit more formal, serving — you guessed it — high-quality prime rib and free seafood for dinner. This restaurant is known as one of the best in Philadelphia. The Coffee Bar offers snacks, light lunches and organic coffee beverages. Room service is also available.

The hotel also offers a 2,000-square-foot Fitness Center with cardio and weightlifting equipment, and the Tru Blu Spa menu of spa services provided in-room. Valet parking is available at the front entrance of the hotel, with in and out priveldges. Secure parking is also located directly behind the hotel in a garage.

Room Needs Some Love

by jdawntelled

The first room that I received the previous guest must of smoked in the room as both of the windows were open to try and air the room out. I am very sensitive to cigarette smoke, so immediately called the front desk and they provided me with a new room. However, before leaving that room, I looked down at the desk and it was severely chipped. The next room I received was better than the first (yay no cigarette smell), but the ceiling has a large crack and part of the plaster was hanging down. Additionally, the doors on the dresser did not remain closed. Every time I closed them, they just rolled back open. So I ALWAYS had to make sure I didn't run into the door coming out of the bathroom. The location of the hotel is great. Many restaurants and shopping around. But the accommodations could use A LOT of LOVE! The lobby fools you into thinking your room will be just as nice.

Great, except for bathroom

by Breedleeep

The bathroom we had was tiny with basically a big sink and no counter space. Tub was clean but standing in it was an accident waiting to happen so I bought a tub mat. Otherwise, the room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Room was near the elevator so it was noisy. Service overall was great.
