I took my family (4 year old daughter, twin boys age 2, niece age 14 and my wife) to Hershey Park in Sept. 2009. We stayed at the Residence Inn nearby. We have had great luck with the Residence Inns we have stayed at. They are roomy (we get the 2 more +bedroom suites), have great amenities (kitchen), and put out good breakfast and dinner spreads for free. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Its not a long drive to Hershey from the R.I., and an incredibly better value than staying at the Hotel Hershey. I highly recommend this Residence Inn for families.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom suite at Residence Inn - Harrisburg/Hershey in May 2009. Very convenient location; close to Hershey, Gettysburg, Lancaster, and Harrisburg. Kids liked loft style bedroom. Parents liked private bedroom and bathroom and more +convenience of a full kitchen and maid service. This was not one of the renovated rooms but still seemed nice and clean enough. Only issue was TV's were ancient, no inputs to plug in video games for the kids. I'm sure this is not a problem in the renovated rooms.

Hotel has an indoor pool, hot tub, and gym. There is also a seasonal outdoor pool (was not yet open for us but kids loved indoor pool) and outdoor basketball area. Rooms have free wireless Internet and there is also a computer and printer in the lobby that is free to use. There is free parking and coin laundry available.

There is a free hot breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, oatmeal, pastries, cereal, fruit, yogurt, juice, and coffee. On weekday evenings (Monday-Thursday, I believe the hours were 6-7:30 PM), they have a free but small dinner offering. There was always salad and usually some sort of hot appetizer/entree that changed daily (we had things such as pasta, meatballs, hamburgers, nachos, etc). Get there early as sometimes the entree ran out. Juice was only available at breakfast but they had iced tea and soft drinks in the evening. Best part was free beer for the adults. The ladies working the food area were extremely nice and helpful. They brought the kids children's place mats and crayons without being asked.

There are usually free cookies (yummy!) at the front desk and there is a little food mart to buy snacks and such between meals.
