Best Hotel in Ottawa

We have stayed at the Marriott - Residence Inn in Ottawa several years in a row (summer time) and loved it....I was recently divorced (then) and we did not have a lot of money to travel...kids were approximately 9 and 11 then and we went to Ottawa more +for a couple of days and we enjoyed ourselves. Does not take much to entertain kids..as long as there is a swimming pool, food and museums..they were happy! We made friends at the hotel and emailed back and forth the next year to see if we would go back. One year they gave us a corner room..was fantastic..lots of room to move around for the kids..not confined at all. My son (who loved army toys) brought his whole box of little army men and actually set up a little museum of his own in the living room. When kids went in the lobby one day they were asked how their vacation was going and one of the girls at the front desk wanted to see what my son was talking about that he had done in the room. She came to our room to make my son happy and was shocked at what my son had constructed in the room. A room full of little army men..on the table in the corner, around the sofa..it was fantastic!

They loved the pool (of course)..it was great!!!

They loved the snacks they had in the afternoon. Breakfasts were included every day and the kids liked everything that was offered. We also had the Managers dinner (I believe once per week) which was free!
This vacation was mostly just to get away from the house, spend time in the pool, go visit museums such as War Museum, Canadian Children's Museum, etc. I think we have visited it them all.

To recap...does not take much to entertain children. All they want is some fun in the sun (or a pool), visiting new places and just relaxing in new environments. I believe we will always remember these special little "Mini trips" we took to Ottawa. :)
