The $30 daily resort fee per room entitles you and your kids to complimentary use of water tricycles, rafts, kayaks and paddle boats as well as snorkeling gear. All accommodations feature complimentary high speed Internet and certain hotel areas are wireless.

The resort reduces the amount of gear required for trips with kids by providing complimentary strollers, cribs, car seats, bed rails, baby swings, baby bathtubs and potty seats as well as high chairs and night lights. Request these in advance.

For those who seek both seas breezes and privacy, tented cabanas can be rented for about U.S. $350 per day. These come with chaise lounges, table and chairs and a waiter ready to fetch you drinks. Oddly though, most of the cabanas line the sand right in front of the main pool, so these canvas oases pick up the pool noise. Getting There

Grand Cayman is easy to reach as many airlines, including American, Delta and Cayman Airways, provide service to Owen Roberts International Airport, about a 75-minute flight from Miami. A taxi from the airport to the Ritz-Carlton costs about U.S. $25.

Art of Smart Timing
Like most Caribbean resorts high season runs from around mid-December to mid-April, with the Christmas and New Year's holidays commanding the highest prices. In general, low season runs from mid-April to mid-December.

For Mom and Dad
The Ritz relies on well-known names for guest services. Tennis players take lessons or clinics with pros trained by noted tennis coach Nick Bollettieri. Greg Norman designed Blue Tip, the 9-hole golf course and Eric Ripert serves delectable seafood at Blue by Eric Ripert.

The name recognition system continues with La Prairie's Silver Rain Spa. We cool off as soon as we enter the lobby. The waterfall and ersatz ice bridge are designed to evoke ice crystals atop melting Swiss glaciers. The spa offers a full line of indulgent massages, wraps and treatments. Nothing, however, is geared to kids or teens. Ages 14 to 17 may get a massage with a parent present.
