Families staying at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey will find more to do in the surrounding Los Angeles area than in the actual hotel; like most city hotels, the Marina Del Rey Ritz has no children's program. But this Ritz, which has a private dock on Marina Del Rey, is a good choice for families interested in water sports along the marina in addition to L.A. and Southern California attractions. The Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey offers chartered sailboats and yachts, and families can rent wave runners, kayaks, sailboats and power boats at the Fisherman's Village, which is located one mile from the hotel. Guests with their own boats can make arrangements to dock them at the marina.
There are various bike and hiking paths near the property, and bike rentals are available at the hotel. The Ritz also has tennis courts, a basketball court, a fitness center, a spa, a whirlpool and a waterfront swimming pool. The hotel has previously opened its pool to the public, and past guests have posted complaints on TripAdvisor about an unusually crowded swimming pool. However, the hotel's concierge assures us that the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey has changed its policy and the pool is now available for hotel guests only.
On rainy days, families can pick up a scavenger hunt form from the Guests Relations desk, which lists clues for kids to find around the hotel. There are no childcare programs at this Ritz location, but the concierge will refer guests to local babysitting agencies upon request.
