Impressive first time Ritz hotel visit

by Leighites

Didn’t know what to expect as normally stay with a rival name. We can honestly say we’ve never experienced such warmth, willingness to please and interesting conversations. The whole Lounge staff are fantastic. Robyn, Olga, Marco and Molene all readily brought our preferred cuppas or tipples to us on arrival in the lounge. The breakfast is excellent and the lunch too. Afternoon tea is just a few snacks but the canapés are varied and tasty. The full bar is available all day long too. Priscilla the concierge manager for the club also gave great advice to us regarding our sightseeing. The views from the club lounge are excellent of the CN Tower and location is good for sightseeing and getting around. Rooms are spacious and very clean. We had trouble (being British!) in turning the lamps off in our room on the first night but some kind soul from housekeeping rescued us. We were sad to leave to go to Niagara but the wonderful picnic Olga and Molene provided us with was a really sweet and thoughtful touch. This won’t be our last Ritz visit - in fact we’ve now booked to stay at the New Orleans Ritz hotel at the end of our Mississippi cruise in a week’s time. Let’s hope it’s just as good!

High tea was low

by HellofromToronto

Our experience here for high tea was very disappointing. We expected stellar service given that it is after all the Ritz!

3 servers rushed to serve us and to ask us for our tea selection before we had a chance to sit and settle.

The sandwiches were beautiful but the bread was not the freshest.

The teapots had no separate filter to take out the loose tea leaves as we don't like it too strong. We asked for extra hot water which took a reminder and over 10-15 minutes before the tea returned. And of course the servers mixed up the teapots!

The scones were quite good but the desserts weren't special.

Upon cashing out, the server also made a mistake with the bill. We were splitting the bill, but she charged me twice, once for half the amount and then another invoice for the full amount. My girlfriend was correctly charged correctly at half the amount.

We won't be returning. Management should pay attention to recruiting and training.
