Buffet
Parents of young children will appreciate the short walk from the rooms to the restaurants. We started each morning at the large buffet, which included an omelet station, French toast, bacon, sausage, yogurt, cereals, fresh fruit including small, sweet bananas, and pastries. We waited for one of the outdoor tables to enjoy our breakfast with a sea breeze. Waiters serve orange juice to the kids, while we washed down the morning fare with strong Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. I also liked visiting the lunch buffet later in the afternoon to grab a bowl of pistachio ice cream.
The buffet worked best at night when they offered a specialty dinner. On Jamaica night, they featured ackee and salt fish, oxtail stew, tasty curried goat, yams, and breadfruit. A seafood dinner offered as much lobster and shrimp as you could possibly eat. Otherwise, the specialty restaurants are far superior.
Negril
This grill and steakhouse serves large cuts of rib eye that are scrumptious. We didn't miss one lunch at this jerk hut restaurant. Plate in hand, we waited for the chef to take the grilled chicken off the grates of the barbecue and chop up a tender chunk for us. You can top the meat with spicy Scotch bonnet sauce or a sweet barbecue sauce. The chicken is paired with rice, beans, and often grilled vegetables and fish.
Krystal
Guests must book two days in advance to dine on tender Chilean sea bass at this fusion restaurant.
Rimini
This is an Italian restaurant that specializes in pastas and pizzas. A la carte menu items and buffet starters are available. Advanced reservations are required.
Hakuchi
The fresh sushi and salmon at Hakuchi Japanese restaurant are a must for seafood-loving families.
Room Service
There's also the option of 24-hour room service if you have young children who tire quickly after their hot day in the ocean.
