Santa Barbara Family Friendly Restaurants
La Super-Rica Taqueria 622 North Milpas Street •Santa Barbara, CA •805-963-4940 This is a must-try Mexican dive. Don't be shy. Any Mexican restaurant in Santa Barbara that once attracted the kudos of Julia Child can't be missed. This casual lunch diner serves what some have called the most authentic Mexican fare in California. Three specials are offered daily, but you should be prepared to wait in line to sample the tasty tacos and burritos. No credit cards are accepted, and this joint is closed on Wednesdays. |
Longboard's Grill 210 Stearns Wharf•Santa Barbara, CA •805-963-3311 Located right on the famous Stearns Wharf, Longboards offers great views, both inside and out. Kids love the surf theme, and parents love the harborside dining, the lively bar and music and the full cocktail menu. This is a fun stop after sightseeing, especially because it's so close to many Santa Barbara highlights. The food is good, but it's certainly not five-star. Local favorites include fish-n-chips and clam chowder. And, as you wait for your main dish, you can snack on peanuts, toss the shells on the floor and soak up the surfer vibe. |
Santa Barbara Shellfish Company 230 Stearns Wharf•Santa Barbara, CA •805-966-2112 Like the name says, this is the place to go for fresh shellfish in Santa Barbara. For shrimp, clams, lobster or crabs, there are endless possibilities there. Its wharf location is a great choice for families who are tired from a day of touring and just want to kick back and listen to the ocean waves and sea birds while watching the sunset. The shellfish are fresh and delicious, giving this place a long-standing reputation in the community as a great, reliable place to dine. |
Something's Fishy 500 State Street•Santa Barbara, CA •805-966-6607 You might pass right on by this place, located in downtown Santa Barbara, if you haven't heard about it. Despite its modest appearance, Something's Fishy is a local favorite for sushi and Japanese hibachi. The Japanese chefs put on quite a show for diners as they prepare meals with theatrically sliced veggies and onion rings, stacked into a volcano shape. They then set the whole thing ablaze before putting it on your plate. Yes, it's a little bit like a local Benihana, but half-price sushi nights are offered and provide a great value. |
Wine Cask 813 Anacapa Street•Santa Barbara, CA •805-966-9463 We can't recommend restaurants in Santa Barbara without mentioning Wine Cask. This is definitely the place for when you've booked a baby sitter or your kids are old enough to appreciate a nice filet mignon or a seared ahi tuna. Wine Cask has what may be Santa Barbara's most extensive wine list, featuring highlights from California and beyond. |
