Overview

One of two ski resorts in the Couer d’Alene area, this one is about 30 minutes north of the city on Highway 95. Kids will love the zip line and climbing wall, among other summertime treats that includes huckleberry-picking outings! Of course winter brings slopes designed for snowboarders, tubers and alpine skiers, a great spa and warm fireplaces throughout. Lodging choices range from a remote cabin on the lake to fully-furnished and plush condominiums. The Schweitzer Mountain Village offers a wide range of shops and restaurants, plus special events or activities no matter the season.

The hotel also has free Wi-Fi, onsite dining, children’s activities, refrigerators and kitchenettes.

Perfect place for a summer vacation

by Cyndi H

We stayed at the ‘Castle’. It was beyond amazing, and I will never forget our stay there. The chateau itself is fantastic; the light & shadows change throughout the day in entrancing patterns, & you’re surrounded by antiques that remind you of how small your concerns are compared to the scope of history. It’s just magical there.
Summertime on Schweitzer Mountain, surrounded by huckleberries & deer, with the view of the lake & the few clouds rolling over the top of the mountain above us, was perfect.
Our host was fantastic & went above & beyond to make us feel at home & welcome.
Yes, they are in the midst of construction. Did that ruin our vacation in any way? Nope. Gave our 10 year old something interesting to watch while we had a fantastic meat & cheese plate from Gourmandie on the White Pine patio overlooking the forest & lake.
Can’t wait to return.

Possibilities galore!

We did the fun chair lift up to the mountain, had a yummy lunch in their restaurant, took some great pictures, then headed back down and enjoyed some of the kid activities like sluicing for gems/rocks, jumping on the trampoline and playing an oversized game of checkers. If we are in the area again, we would definitely come back with our mountain bikes and hit those awesome trails and maybe take one of those beautiful horses out on a trail ride.

Hopefully once construction is all said and done, parking situation will be better.
