Overview

Just 15 miles north of Downtown Atlanta and located in the heart of the lively Perimeter area where shopping and restaurants thrive, the Sheraton Atlanta Perimeter North Hotel offers families an economical and convenient home base to explore the city and its expansive environs. The small hotel, which opened in 2008, has a cozy lobby that is dressed as though you are walking into a friend’s living room, with a large fireplace, soft sofa and chairs, a large TV, a cabinet stocked with family board games and four computers ready for exploring. The small and friendly staff will make you feel as though you are at a B&B instead of a 142-room hotel. But the true family-friendly gem of this pet-friendly hotel is its large outdoor courtyard pool replete with comfy lounge chairs and an outdoor fireplace.

Room Information

Find the Best Price for Your Stay

Families can enjoy a great value at the Sheraton Atlanta Perimeter North. Of the 142 rooms, there are 12 adjoining rooms, as well as the popular King Suites, which offer a separate living room with a pullout sofa. Cribs and rollaways are available as well, but because of fire codes, rollaways are only available in the King rooms.

King Suites
A big bonus for the King Suites is two TVs, one in the bedroom and the other in the separate living area, so families aren't fighting over the remote. There is a glass door between the bedroom and living space so you can check in on the kids to make sure they are sleeping without even opening the door. The bathroom is also conveniently located between the two rooms, for easier access for both. Parents will also appreciate the complimentary Starbucks and Tazo teas and the recently upgraded refrigerators in the King Suites, which are larger than their predecessor. You may want to request a room that looks over the pool courtyard, as the other rooms look out over the parking lot and road.

Club Level Rooms
There are 36 Club Level rooms available that provide full access to the hotel's Club Lounge, where guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast, beverages throughout the day and evening hors d'oeuvres, as well as complimentary computer access 24-hours a day with wired high-speed Internet.

Traditional King or Double Queen Bedroom
The Traditional King or Double Queen Bedroom offers the typical amenities and services of their standard rooms, such as pillowtop beds, down pillows, 32-inch flat panel televisions, and Internet-based printing services provided in all guestrooms for an additional charge.

Deluxe King Bedroom
The Deluxe King option has everything the traditional King room offers with the addition of a larger seating area for relaxing in the room.

Delightful stay at Sheraton

by Oniel S

I enjoyed my time at this hotel so much. Revamped lobby was the perfect place to unwind after a hectic workday. Friendly faces from beginnig to end everywhere you look. Also, be sure to give their hearty breakfast buffet a try as it is delicious!

Family Activities

Pool and Fitness Center
Kids will love splashing in the courtyard pool, while their parents lounge in the sun surrounded by flowering plants and lush vegetation. The 3-to 5-foot deep pool is used routinely from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when the weather in Atlanta is the warmest. Although the pool is open all year, this Southern city does get chilly enough to make the pool vacant in winter months. But, luckily, there is an outdoor fireplace surrounded by relaxing furniture if you would like to enjoy the courtyard during the winter months. Right next door and with direct access to the courtyard is the fitness center, which has everything you need for a complete workout.

Sandy Springs
The Sheraton is also centrally located in the Sandy Springs area and across the street from thriving Hammond Park, which has soccer fields, a playground, gymnastics center and tennis/basketball courts. During your stay, the park is a great year-round place for family walks, outside play and family reunions.

Discounts and Nearby Activities
The hotel does offer seasonal packages with the Georgia Aquarium downtown, so be sure to check the Offers Page on its website for what may be currently available. The popular Perimeter Mall is just 1 mile away, and Sandy Springs will be opening up a new walkable city center in 2017 that will offer a variety of amenities including retail, recreational and cultural facilities. To enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, the entire family will love to Shoot the Hooch, where you can tube, canoe, raft or kayak down the historic Chattahoochee River.

Family Dining

Parkside Grille
Offering your typical American fare, the Parkside Grille offers all-day dining at the hotel from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the week and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends. The restaurant offers burgers, fries, steaks, fish and fresh salads, as well as a special kids' menu and breakfast buffets in the morning.

Parkside Grille Lounge
Open from 3 p.m. to midnight, the lounge is open to serve up some tasty cocktails and on-the-go or late-night snacks.

Vending Machines
Looking for a quick snack? Vending machines are conveniently located on every floor of the hotel.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
The tweens and teens in your party will love the Link @ Sheraton program, which allows for free Internet access, computer use and printing from the comfort of the cozy lobby. There are four computers available for use and free Wi-fi, so teens can chill in the lobby with their smartphones and tablets at their leisure, while parents grab a refreshing drink at the lounge. Wi-Fi is available in all the rooms for a charge of $9.95 per day ($14.95 for faster service).

Babysitting
The friendly front desk staff has carte blanche from management to offer whatever will make a kid happy, so don't be afraid to ask for anything that could make your children more comfortable. The staff will also be happy to help you arrange babysitting from a list of recommended services they have used in the past.

The Art of Smart Timing
While weekdays in Atlanta are bustling with business travel, the weekends are rife with families enjoying the host of tourist destinations the city offers. Summer and kids sporting events tend to be the most popular times for families to visit the hotel, and staying on the weekend will keep you from paying the high business rates found during the weekdays. One caution about the weather: Atlanta isn't called Hotlanta for nothing. Try to avoid the dog days of summer, typically July and August, and consider planning your trip during the milder weather, typically in spring or early fall.

Getting There
The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is roughly 25 miles away from the Sheraton Atlanta Perimeter North Hotel. MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) provides bus and rail service in the Atlanta area. Guests can catch the MARTA rail directly in the airport Domestic Terminal at the end of baggage claim. Visitors should take the train North to Dunwoody Station and then a short shuttle ride to the hotel. Although car rentals, Uber, and airport shuttles are also readily available at the airport, it is best to take MARTA to avoid long traffic delays, which are unfortunately commonplace in Atlanta.

Getting Around
The hotel does offer a complimentary courtesy shuttle during the week that will take you to the nearby Perimeter Mall, featuring Nordstrom, Macy's and Dillard's. And MARTA is your best option for visiting all the downtown sights, such as the Georgia Aquarium, the New World of Coca-Cola, CNN Center and Six Flags over Georgia. The Dunwoody MARTA station is 1 mile from the hotel. A shuttle runs within a 3-mile radius of the hotel, however, the shuttle typically only runs on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. In the summers, if the hotel is fully booked, the hotel may offer shuttles on the weekend as well, but they cannot be typically relied on for transportation on the weekends. Many families have their own cars, and the hotel's location is not far from the action of downtown. The affluent shopping district of Buckhead is just three exits down the highway and downtown attractions are about 20 minutes south. Parking is complimentary at the hotel.

For Mom & Dad
Head to the Parkside Lounge for a sip of one of the hotel's 90-plus rated wines. If you are interested in some fine or exotic dining, you'll be thrilled to discover there are more than 100 restaurants within a 3-mile radius of the hotel. The Sandy Springs community has purposely made a big push for local, one-of-a-kind restaurants and you'll be able to enjoy every flavor you can imagine, from Jamaican, French and Mediterranean to a good ole' steak or some mouth-watering Southern fried chicken.
