I read about Smuggler's Notch extensively online before booking our vacation. We had 3 14yo boys we were traveling with, so it was really important they stay occupied and engaged. All of the reviews and information I read claimed Smuggs to be the #1 more +family resort destination with all kinds of amenities and activities for kids - from the teen center to the mini-golf to parties for teens ... and on and on.

When we first arrived, we walked down to the center of town to check out the facilities and have dinner. We sent the kids into the teen center after dinner figuring we wouldn't see them for hours. We hadn't even finished paying the check and they were calling to find out where we were. The teen center had a couple of arcade games, which you had to pay for, a pool table, which you had to pay for, and an xBox with a couple of chairs that was already occupied. That was it. The rugs were old, there was nothing inviting about the place.

Later we sent them to play mini-golf. They said it was really lame. Eventually they went into the family fun center, which is more geared to younger kids, and played some mini-golf in there. They said that was far better than the actual mini-golf course.

Everything was super old. I skied in Vermont when I was learning back in the 70s. Smuggs looked like one of the old places I used to visit in VT back then. And now it was 30 years older! Even the condos were old with outdated furniture and old carpeting. The carpeting in all of the common areas was simply disgusting.

We stopped at Stowe on our way out of Smuggler's and I have to tell you, I wish we'd booked our vacation there.

I would never go back to Smuggler's Notch and I would not recommend it to anyone who has teenagers.

This is our 2nd summer taking a vacation at Smuggs. We love the fact that the kids camp is included in the price. Our kids loved the camp and we parents loved having time to ourselves to explore the area. The pools are amazing. After camp we more +would cook a quick dinner at our condo and then head to the pools for ours of fun. They have a new indoor Fun Zone with games and bouncy castles/slides that was also a big hit with the kids. Camp counselors really cared about the kids.
