Overview

If you’re looking to save some money (and who isn’t?), driving (or taking a shuttle) eight miles from the Mall of America to chain hotels on the east side of the Minnesota River can save you money. Room taxes are lower, and the Eagan Convention and Visitors Bureau offers a Pick-Your-Packages incentive that includes a Mall of America coupon book, plus two tickets to Nickelodeon Universe, Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium or the guests’ choice of an attraction. Kids will like the hotel’s pool and hot cocoa and coffee in the lobby, as well as warm cookies each evening and hot breakfast with eggs and waffles in the morning. The 105 suites include mini-fridges and microwaves.

Still looking for that affordable, stress-free hotel near Eagan.

Room #104. If you live on the west coast getting to Minnesota International Airport is a major pain in the behind. Direct flights arrive late at night or you spend an entire day chasing connecting flights. I've been trying to find an affordable hotel that makes up for the discomfort of getting to Minnesota. This was my second visit to SpringHill Suites and I will not be back for a third time.

Folks who run Springhill Suites are friendly, good breakfast is served and the hotel is close to multiple shopping centers. One star for free, not crappy wi-fi and free Showtime and HBO to Go. The rooms are modern and clean with a basic bath room amenities. The hotel does not have options for lunch or dinner but with Hy-Vee (supermarket) and Punch Neapolitan Pizza (cheap, great pizza) closeby that is easily remedied.

I would have given this 4 stars wasn't it for the following annoyances.

Why oh why does a hotel put guests in adjacing rooms if the hotel is clearly not fully booked? I had the pleasure of having to hear two neighbours discuss some pretty intimate details about their weekend or be part of a loud business call. The walls (and ceilings) are paper thin.

The AC cannot be switched off unless you unplug it because "Off" on the AC control does not really mean "Off". I don't understand why hotels put AC units next to a bed. If the assumption is guests like to wake up several times a night because the AC decides to cycle for 30 seconds every 30 minutes they are so, so wrong.

Decent property with a great staff!

Stayed 3 days and it was a satisfying stay. Couch was a bit uncomfortable but it’s a little aged. Room was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was adequate. Staff are very friendly and take pride in their service. I was always greeted when I walked in or departed. Halls were always clean and for the most part it was very quiet. I liked the heavy solid doors and it seemed safe. Easy access off of 35E. Lots of places to eat locally and a Chili’s and Burger King within walking distance. I would stay here again and recommend it to business travelers.
