Overview

Located in Cape May, N.J., The Star is operated by Cape Resorts, and as guests of the hotel, you and your family are able to enjoy the amenities and activities — such as a spa and onsite dining — offered at its nearby sister resorts, which include the family-friendly Beach Shack, Congress Hall, and Sandpiper Beach Club.

The Star offers three room variations: Inn Guest Rooms, Carriage Suites, and Motel-Style Efficiencies, the later of which is best for families. Efficiencies sleep up to four in king beds — outfitted with deluxe Serta mattresses — along with pullout sofas, and they feature kitchenettes, flat-screen TV’s and Wi-Fi access. Private backyards and porch swings are a plus, too — request a room on the first floor to enjoy them; second-floor rooms offer balconies with cozy rocking chairs.

Because the hotel is located right on the beach, guests enjoy easy access to the sand, where they can use complimentary lounge chairs, umbrellas and towels, courtesy of the hotel. Cabanas are also available for rent on a first-come, first served basis (with half-day and full-day fees), should you want to keep your little ones out of the sun. They’re quite popular, so consider reserving months in advance by phone or via the hotel’s Web site.

Seasonal events, package deals and easily accessible activities, such as Dark Star Pirate Cruises and self-guided tours of Beach Plum Farm (where much of Cape Resorts’ food is grown), round out the appeal for families.

Reviews

Loved this Beautiful Inn!

by F9195YCwendym

I was unsure about the Star Inn for our anniversary weekend when reading reviews posted a while ago but booked anyway knowing it was the sister inn to the Congress Inn across the street--where the amenities are plentiful. The Star didn't disappoint but thrilled us to have a room with an ocean view, (albeit small) but size didn't matter as it was fairly quiet on the second floor during a later October weekend. The king size bed was incredible comfortable and the products and terry cloth robes, and other amenities offered at the Congress in a first class touch. I would definitely return for the accommodations, the location and the attention to detail.

Nice Fall Weekend in Cape May

A friend referred us to the Star and we are happy we gave it a try. Great central location in town. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable front desk staff. Our room was on the third floor (no elevator, which we didn’t mind, but could be a problem for some people) nice to wake up in the morning and have a view of the ocean! Nice size room, King bed, very clean and staff refreshed linens, etc., each day. Hoping to return again soon.
