Overview

One of many Shakespeare-themed hotels in Ashland, the Stratford Inn is one of the better ones. Owned by the same family for over 30 years, they’ve gone out of their way to make the hotel feel like home. The suites are perfect for larger families, with several of them big enough to comfortably sleep six.

Kids will love the indoor pool and hot tub, while parents will appreciate perusing the library of Shakespeare-related books before heading out to a play. The Stratford is one of the quietest hotels we’ve ever been in, which makes for a restful night’s sleep.

The location, at the eastern end of Ashland’s Main Street, is a 10-minute walk from the Shakespeare Festival and most restaurants and shops. If the free continental breakfast doesn’t satisfy, pop into Boulevard Coffee, the onsite restaurant that serves more substantial breakfast and lunch fare, not to mention a great cup of coffee. Other amenities include kitchenette, access to Anytime Fitness, and 24-hour front desk.

Reviews

Ok but overpriced

The location is definitely a plus. Only about a 10 to 15 minute walk to town and the theater. The hotel is clean but basic. Loud air conditioning units. Rooms considered “tree side”face onto busy Siskiyou Ave. Bathroom supplies were all in wall dispensers and were of poor quality. No extra bathroom amenities at all. Bed and pillows were older and not particularly comfortable. For breakfast there were bagels or oatmeal only. I would have been relatively happy with this hotel for $85 but for $200 I really was expecting more. I was disappointed, but Ashland is generally an expensive place to visit.

Great spot, consistently good experience

This is one of our favorite places to stay in Ashland. It's location is convenient to downtown shopping/dining and festival theaters and adjacent to a grocery store. Also not far from SOU. Cool amenities include an indoor pool and jacuzzi (open from 7am to 1am), some covered parking, frig and microwave in the room and attached Boulevard Cafe (breakfast and lunch). They have improved their facility for the continental breakfast since our last stay, but scaled it down (bagels, fruit, coffee/tea/juice, instant oatmeal). You can get a 10% discount at Boulevard Cafe with your room key, and if you book directly through the hotel, they provide a $10 voucher for the cafe. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and staff have always been very pleasant and accommodating. I definitely recommend this hotel.
