Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Stratton, the highest mountain peak in southern Vermont, has come a long way over the years, surpassing each with new state-of-the-art snowmaking capabilities and lifts, trails and snow parks, and outdoor activities for family fun. Today, Stratton offers nearly 600 acres of ski- and snowboard-terrain, with 94 trails and over 100 acres of glades, along with four high-speed six-passenger lifts and a summit gondola. Add to that some of the finest ski-resort lodging in the East and world-class shopping and dining in The Stratton Village and you have a truly premier choice for vacationing families.

And while many ski resorts are spiffing up their lifts and lodging, there's something a little more special about Stratton that's hard to put your finger on at first. But once you've stayed for a few days, you'll realize that it's the ease of which your family engages with the mountain and melds with the relaxed Vermont vibe. Skiing with young kids in tow can be onerous at best, but Stratton knows how to reduce the schlepping factor, making it a little less taxing at the end of a long day on the mountain. With a streamlined rentals process and options to store your skis either at your lodging or the base of the mountain, once you get settled, you'll find it very easy to manage your gear.

When families have had enough activity on the mountain, they head to the village to sit by the outdoor fire pit and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate, as well as do a little shopping for souvenirs. And when they're hungry for dinner, they stop in Mulligan's or the Organic Pizza Company, or perhaps head back to their condo to prepare a home-cooked dinner and enjoy a night in.

But Stratton is not just a destination for winter fun. Families will find a full slate of outdoor entertainment any time of year, and in the off-season, lower room rates and fewer crowds as well. In summer, the Junior Tennis and Golf programs are popular with families, and this year, Stratton is introducing a new Kids Adventure Kamp including arts, outdoor exploration, tennis, golf and swimming.

Whichever season you choose to visit Stratton, you'll be sure to find smiling faces and friendly greetings at every corner. And by the time you leave, you just may have started a new family tradition.
