Overview

Situated along 31 tropical acres and beach on the northeastern end of St. Thomas, Sugar Bay’s hillside location affords fantastic views of St. John and the Virgin Islands. While you’ll have to take a long series of steps or a shuttle down to the beach and poolside areas, SugarBay’s location is conveniently located within minutes of Red Hook and the ferries to St. John, as well as Blackbeard’s Castle and Coral World, for activities off of the resort. However, the resort offers plenty to keep families entertained, including three pools, tennis, mini golf, video games, kayaking, sailing, volleyball, basketball, and kids’ programs.

Formerly the Dreams Sugar Bay, the resort completed a multi-million renovation, with its lobby and restaurants and nearly 300 guest rooms receiving a new, airy look, as well as a new name in 2016.

The resort offers an all-inclusive option, making it the only 100 percent all-inclusive resort on the island.

Reviews

Such a nice place!

by marelise22

So sad that they were affected by the Hurricane. I thought my review was published when I did it long ago. I actually visited in March 2017 and loved it. I know that they are rebuilding it but I am sure it will be even more magnificent. We love the food, our rooms were great, there is a nice beach and it is overall very very good!

Birthday Celebrations

The resort was in a great location. The staff was fantastic! Food and drinks hit the spot. Night activities was fun. Situated between Oister bay and downtown nightlife was perfect. Water activities within walking distance ie.. jet ski worked fine. The resort being right on the beach had a nice relaxing vibe. Was treated to a massage that worked out any possible tension the rum punches didn’t get.The gym could have been better but all and all it was a great time. Have recommended this to friends and family !

Family Activities

Kids' Klub Providing daily activities for children 4 to 12 in its poolside kids' klub, activities for children are offered for half- or full-day sessions, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include face painting, sand sculpting, games, arts and crafts, iguana adventures, shell seeking, dance parties, mini golf competitions, and more. A daily, half-day program is included in the all-inclusive package. Lunch and a snack are also included. By Land The resort offers a variety of activities included in its all-inclusive rates. Complimentary land activities include tennis, basketball and walking or jogging the resort's nature trail. By Sea Windsurfing, kayaking, and snorkeling from the beach are included at the resort, as well as a complimentary scuba class for adults. Lessons in these sports can be arranged, but cost extra. For an additional fee, you can go on fishing outings, waterski, sail to nearby islands or sign-up for a resort scuba course. Pool As at many resorts, the pool is the hub of activity, partly because kids love pools, but also because the resort's beachfront is relatively compact. The resort has three, interconnecting freshwater pools and a hot tub.

Family Dining

Breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, during restaurant hours (some restrictions may apply), are included in the all-inclusive package. Seasonal schedules may apply to some restaurants. Mangrove Restaurant This casual, poolside restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Shima Bar The resort's sushi restaurant is located in the main lobby. Turtle Rock Sports Bar This poolside, casual restaurant offers a sports bar ambiance where the game is always on television. Chef's Table On a rotational scheduled, this fine dining a la cart restaurant features special menus by Chef Ron Duprat. Swim-Up Pool Bar For adults who may be seeking a cocktail by the pool, there's no need to get out of the water. Just swim-up to the bar at the main pool.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras BabySitting Babysitting is available through a nanny service, which can be contacted directly. Wi-Fi Wi-Fi is included in the all-inclusive package. The Art of Smart Timing When it's colder in the north, it's a great time to visit the Caribbean but expect to see some crowds. The summer months offer less crowds. Getting There Many airlines, including US Air, American and Delta, fly into St. Thomas's International Airport in Charlotte Amelie, which is eight miles and about 30 minutes from the resort. Getting Around Taxis are readily available on St. Thomas. When calculating drive time, be aware that when several ships dock in Charlotte Amalie's harbor at the same time, the traffic increases exponentially. Time your island drives, when possible, to those hours before the cruise ships arrive or after they depart. A resort shuttle is available to transport guests around the resort. The shuttle does not leave the property. For Mom and Dad The 10,000-square-foot onsite spa features six treatment rooms, as well as a private couples' massage suite, hydrotherapy rooms and a private outdoor lounging sundeck with whirlpool. It is connected to a 2,500-square-foot fitness center with cardiovascular and weight-training rooms and an aerobics studio offering yoga, Pilates and personal trainers.
