Mixed experience

We stayed at this hotel twice in one week - a 2 night stay with a one day break to visit family, then a one-night stay. We booked a suite which was nice and spacious, nice wet bar with coffee machine (we later found out not all rooms have coffee machines). The mini bar prices are truly ridiculous - like $60 for a $10 bottle of wine. I am willing to pay a lot for convenience, but not that much. The view is nice and the neighborhood is great. The shared balcony was no better than a window, however.
We had breakfast on site which was good, and had a few snacks in the sushi bar one night which were excellent. So the first stay midweek was all pretty fine. However, they also made us sign something at check-in saying we wouldn't bring any outside food or drink in. I have never seen that before and I think it's unacceptable. Can't bring home your leftovers? What about your latte? When we returned for our second stay on a Saturday we were a couple hours early and they understandably did not have our suite ready. We went to lunch and returned at check-in time. The room was still not ready and they said housekeeping was very behind and it could be another hour. They offered us free drinks in their wild patio bar. We were exhausted and needed to shower and nap before obligations that night. About 45 minutes later they still didn't know when the room would be ready so my husband convinced them to downgrade us to a smaller room so we could just check into something. This room had no coffee machine. I thought this was poorly handled, they knew we were in the area and would want to check in on time, and we were already return guests that week which I thought would count for something. And how long does it take to clean a room when you know a guest is waiting? Finally I have to say I found the video in the elevator revolting. Also, when the club is hopping the elevator waits can be long.

Great location, sensational staff!

This hotel is in a great location on the Lower East Side, near its borders with the Bowery and the East Village. I stayed here for 3 nights in October and had a wonderful time. It's important to note up front that, as a number of other reviews mention, this hotel can have a lot going on. The club is very active (I didn't see inside, just the many people going in), and the overall party atmosphere can be strong in the public areas (at least on the weekend), so if that sounds off-putting, this may not be the place for you. However, I found the atmosphere to be energizing and well managed. The rooms are gorgeous and many of the views are spectacular. I was lucky to get a King Suite with Terrace and it was very clean and well-appointed. They nailed all the basics of water pressure, linens, bedding and the overall condition of the room/furniture.

The best part of SIXTY LES, though, is the staff. Oh my. These people are top notch. I was not so great at capturing names, but Josh was the manager on duty most of the time I was there, and he is fantastic. Everyone at the front desk was awesome. The bellhop team members were EVERYWHERE, and couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, and did everything with a smile and super positive attitude. Housekeeping left me a lovely note and did a beautiful job. The people at this hotel give it a personality that will have me coming back again and again.

Thank you, SIXTY LES team, you gave me such a great stay!
