Concrete beds at the Timbers

by 185libbyp

This was our second visit to the Timbers.

We stayed in room 3063 this time.

Pros:
Condo building is nice

Cons:
-Bit outdated
-Beds were hard as a ROCK, Not kidding. My husband and I wanted to leave in the middle of the night because we couldn’t sleep. It was so bad. Going to get massages now because we can hardly move.
-there were two groups of “maintenance” that had to come into our for awhile during our stay. The second group was what was frustrating as they came to get ice off of our patio with loud banging when our babies were sleeping.... let’s just say they weren’t sleeping anymore.
-hot tub was out of commission our entire stay and we had no idea until we got there.

2 stars because we like that it’s ski in ski out. But the rest sums it up. There should be a lot of improvement to keep their “4 star” rating.

Best of luck to you if you stay here... maybe bring an air mattress just Incase you find yourself on a concrete bed like ours. ????

Condo falling apart (with pictures)

by kimwu

My husband was planning a short weekend trip up to Keystone to get some skiing done with our son. He had booked a River Run condo through hotels.com and shortly afterwards someone from Gondola Resorts who was managing the condo called and told him to a better unit at Timbers. They told him it was a much bigger and nicer unit and was a true ski in/ski out. He thought that would be a nice surprise for our son and decided to pay extra for the upgrade.

Since our son had a half day, they decided to go up early and try to get at least a half day of skiing in. When they arrived, none of the keys worked and they were unable to get into the condo unit. It took about 2 hrs to finally get the right keys for the unit and to get into the unit, but by that time they had missed out on that days worth of skiing already.

A team from Gondola resorts/Vacasa tried their best to make things better by offering a bottle of wine and trying to get the situation fixed as quick as possible, which was would have been fine and nice if things didn't get much worse from there.

The next morning, part of the ceiling was leaking and was starting to fall apart (as shown in the attached picture).

My husband contacted Vacasa/Gondola resorts about it at 8am and told them he would be out skiing all day, so if they could get someone in to clean that up and fix what needed to be fixed before he got back that would be great.

When he returned at 5pm, the following pictures is what he came back to. A hole much larger than it was in the morning and two industrial dryer fans blasting at full speed.

He then contacted Gondola Resorts/Vacasa again and asked that those units be removed and that he was just going to go out to grab dinner instead of preparing something at the condo since there was probably drywall dust and other paint particles floating around the condo. He asked that everything be out before he returned and that he wanted at least a 50% refund for all this horrible stuff that was happening.

When he returned from dinner about 2 hrs later, nothing had been removed and the fans were still going and no one had responded to him.

Afterwards he just wanted to take a bath and go to sleep and leave early the next morning just to get out of there.

But even then that wasn't the worst of it!!! As he was starting the bath he saw that a large accumulation of rust had built up in the pipes and the water was rust red!

He ran it for a while and tried to fill up the tub, but as you can see from the attached picture, even after all that it was still brown and really disgusting!

He and my son just went to bed and decided to get out of there the next morning as early as possible. In the morning he decided that the wine was definitely not worth all the troubles and inconveniences he was put through and the lack of anyone trying to make things better, so he just left the bottle with a note expressing his disappointment. I'm not sure if all the units at this location are like this or if all are tuned by Gondola Resorts or Vacasa, but for sure we would not recommend this place at all, especially unit 3057 which he stayed in, and especially one run by Gondola Resorts or Vacasa.

Family Activities

You won't find onsite children's program at Timbers, but there are plenty of seasonal activities for parents and children to enjoy together. In any season, Keystone is the perfect Colorado mountain escape for the family, offering endless activities and tons of fun.

Winter Activities
The mountains that make up Keystone offer more than 3,000 acres of skiable terrain, with the longest run winding down the mountain for just over three miles. There are tons of trails for skiers and riders of all levels, although if you're just a beginner, you may want to stick to the easy bunny trails.

About 70 percent of the mountain's trails are more difficult terrain, so avid skiers and riders will be in their glory. If you're looking to brush up on your skills or are just starting out, there are plenty of ski and rider lesson options for all ages and skill levels, including private lessons and group lessons for children, teens and adults. Camp Keystone offers skiing and riding lessons for kids, a variety of on-snow activities, themed days, and a fun kids' night out. Kidtopia, a huge snow fort at the top of Dercum Mountain, is a must see; the massive snow fort features slides, a maze, ice sculptures, and a lookout tower.

Other winter activities for families include scenic gondola rides, snow tubing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and ice-skating. For a signature Keystone Resort experience, families can take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow-covered valley, and enjoy a gourmet meal at a cozy back ranch cabin.

Warm Weather Activities
In warmer months, get out and enjoy the crisp mountain air and gorgeous surroundings with any of the outdoor family activities offered. Scenic lift-rides allow you to enjoy incredible views, breathtaking scenery, and the Colorado Rocky Mountains from 11,000 feet. The Adventure Center, located in Lakeside Village, is the perfect escape for kids, offering tons of exciting activities like paddle boating, canoeing, kayaking, biking, and hiking. If you're up for the challenge, the rock-climbing wall is an exciting and safe activity for kids and adults alike.

In summer, the Keystone Stables offers horseback riding and pony rides for younger tykes. Saddle up and check out the sky-high mountains and majestic lakes from a different perspective. Other warm-weather activities for families include tubing, river rafting, tennis, mini-golf and zip lining.

Family Dining

Making it extra convenient for families, all condo units at The Timbers feature fully equipped kitchens with granite countertops, and stainless-steel appliances including a fridge, stove, microwave, and dishwasher. Head to the Rockin' R Ranch located in River Run, just a shuttle-stop away, for any groceries or alcoholic beverages needed; this convenience is perfect for those preferring to enjoy a home-cooked meal. If you're looking to dine out with your family, there are plenty of dining options from which to choose. You'll find lots of great restaurants for families in River Run Village as well as scattered throughout Keystone Resort; the biggest challenge you'll face is deciding which restaurant to dine at!

Planning & Tips

The Art of Smart Timing
Whether skiing in winter or exploring the great outdoors with hiking and biking in the warmer months, Keystone is a great family destination in any season. During the winter months, rates are at their highest and rooms fill up fast. If you're looking to plan a winter ski trip, be sure to book well in advance, so you and your family can book the room you'd like. If you're looking for the cheapest rate, plan a trip in the spring or summer when rates are at their lowest; summer is a great time for families to visit with tons of outdoor activities, festivals and concerts.

Getting There
The closest airport to Keystone is the Denver International Airport, about a 90-minute drive from town. There are a number of transportation companies that will take you to and from Keystone. Book in advance, and be sure to leave enough time to check your bags and pass through security, so you're not running through the airport to catch your flight.

Getting Around
Throughout Keystone, a shuttle service makes numerous stops throughout the town, making it easy for guests to get around. If you're not sure about where you're going or how to get there, the drivers are always happy to help. If you don't want to walk to the bus stops or wait around for the shuttles (they come around every 15 to 20 minutes), you can always rent a car instead. There are a number of car rental companies available. All of the rental car companies are located on airport property.

For Mom and Dad
The Keystone Spa
Located at the Keystone Lodge, the spa offers the perfect setting for mom and dad to have some relaxing alone time together. Offering a number of baths, body therapies, facials, and massages, there's plenty of pampering to choose from. If you're looking for services that you can enjoy together, the spa offers couples soaks in the infinity-edged hydrotherapy tub as well as couples massages in a special massage suite for two.
