Overview

The Austrian-inspired Trapp Family Lodge, located on 2,400 acres in Stowe, is a great option for families if for no other reason than it was the Trapp Family that inspired the family classic, “The Sound of Music.” The resort has a children’s center with a kids’ program as well as a wide variety of activities like cross country skiing, tennis, biking, arts and crafts, horse-drawn carriage rides and even maple sugaring. Amenities abound, including a 60-by-25 foot indoor swimming pool, two heated outdoor pools open seasonally, a 20-person outdoor hot tub surrounded by heated slate, a fitness center and three on-site restaurants. Families can choose from rooms in the main lodge, villas or chalets, which are ideal for families with two bedrooms, two full baths, a fully-equipped kitchen, a living room with a wood-stove and a pull-out sleeper sofa.

Reviews

unfortunately most disappointed

by Rillann

we would not recommend this tourist trap to anyone. It's not worth $450/night. Althought it's a gorgeous location on a Vermont mountain top in Stowe, we would not return,. Touristy and much too expensive. Public restrooms were dirty and disgusting on the first floor, most likely due to the droves of buses with tourists stopping by for photo ops and lodge tours. Felt more like a tourist trap than a historic lodge of the Trapp family. We did not have any meals at the Lodge so cannot comment on the quality of food or service. Lodge seems to be overdue for a facelift, especially the sleeping rooms.

Anniversary

Wonderful lodge and grounds. We stayed for our anniversary and did hiking in the snow, walked to the beer hall which had great food and beer. Overall staff was amazing. We can not wait to return. Just for a longer stay next time.
