Cherry Republic 6026 Lake St•Glen Arbor, MI •800-206-6949 Beautiful gardens, samples galore and more cherry ice cream flavors than anyone thought possible make this a main attraction in the already quaint town of Glen Arbor. Adults tend to crowd into the building with cherry inspired wine and spirit samples, but don't miss the great cherry sodas. Kids will love the sassy or sweet assortment of cherry salsas, jams and barbecue sauces as well as the chocolate covered cherries. The colorful cafe feeds hungry shoppers cherry chicken sandwiches, cherry barbecue if you're timing is right, pies, coffee and generous scoops of cherry ice cream. Try the cherry waffle chip, cherry pie ice cream or tart cherry sorbet. |

Great Wolf Lodge 3575 N US Highway 31 S•Traverse City, MI •231-941-3600 Playful and nicely themed, Great Wolf Lodge's main restaurant, Camp Critter, feels like a rustic lumberjack camp, especially if you get a booth set up like a canvas tent with lanterns overhead. The restaurant serves several items that are easy to share among little ones with small appetites, such as four buffalo or beef sliders, "build your own" mini-barbecue beefs and a toddler-friendly sampler with fruits, veggies, dips and pretzels. Grown-up enticements include blackened Michigan whitefish with pineapple-cilantro butter and seared local venison steak with wild mushrooms. Dessert includes a yummy tabletop chocolate fondue. |
