I am submitting this review for the simple reason that I wish I could have read true reports before choosing this resort.

Do not stay at Turtle Bay Resort. It is not worth the dollar you are spending up front. It is not worth the more +daily $25.00 daily resort fee. It is not worth the money for the meals you Need to survive; drinks, alcoholic or otherwise are wayyyy overpriced. Humiliatingly so.

Much needed repair are in progress on some areas of the hotel..including some rooms, the MAIN Restaurant, the spa, outdoor areas etc. There was no compensation offered us due to this. No free cup of coffee..$4.19 per cup; no discount coupons even though the main restaurant was closed. Nothing? We did receive a complimentary tray of fruit on our arrival evening but the two bottles of water were $3.50 per bottle and charged to our room.

Carpets were old, filthy and musty. The tub was chipped with mould around the drain, the bed was miserably cheap and we were allowed linen change only every three days. The four overly painted wooden slats that covered the lanai were non functioning and the room was in ill repair and outdated. Omg.

The manager refused my request to omit or lower the $25.00 daily resort fee. I reminded him that some better resorts waived the fee or lowered it substantially with a stay of 30 days or more. We were here for 33 days. That's what I excitedly signed up for after reading reviews on numerous sites giving benefit of the doubt to the negative reviews.

The manager did assure me that amenities to enhance our trip would be provided instead. EI: the 1 fruit tray..for two. The end.

Our request for an extension on our room on the 33 rd day was refused. Checkout is 11:00 and our flight didn't leave til 7:00 p.m. We were offered a room key for a 'refresher room' for a 1/2 hour use.

We did enjoy the islands. We did enjoy the sunrises and sunsets. We did enjoy the people ,the ocean and the beauty.

I have read negative reports before and always thought they were exaggerating or just unhappy people to begin with.

I am neither.

This resort was in no way worth the money, highly over-rated.. the only positive thing was the location and the bell hops and maids, who were great~~~front desk staff was not helpul, and in some cases rude, there was a couple on our floor in some more +screaming fight, the food over priced, and did not even offer coffee in the lobby, did have a medicine cup of water or juice, I donot feel a resort fee is necessary for two old women who do not plan to use any off the resort activities, and they charge 150.00 a day or incidentials, which is not credited back to your bank ffor 3 days.
They ask you to go Green and use the same towels for your entire stay, The North Shore is beautiful, but this place is so not worth the money. We stayed in hotels in Waikiki for 1/3 the price, with clean rooms, beautiful pools, the whole staff is friendly and helpful, and close to beaches and shopping and bars, at the TBR you have to eat at there, use their bars. For the money I would rather find a more reasonable room, as in Hawaii you do not plan to sit in your room all day, if it is clean and the staff is friendly, that is important. The place we loved had free lobby coffee, free breafast tickets for IHOP, So drive to the North Shore for a day but come back to Waikiki to stay.

Last week we stayed at the TBR over 4 days for the Easter weekend and had a blast!

We live on Oahu and this "staycation" at the TBR made economic sense, since we had a neighbor island getaway experience without having to more +leave the island. My girls (4 and 8) just loved the pool and beach! There were also great tidal pools for them to explore and watch turtles swimming in the surf. The TBR also had a great Easter buffet (Kapena as entertainment) and wonderful children activitites for Easter morning (egg hunt, horse rides, jumpers, etc....). We were also able to attend an Easter service on-site.

I recommend all kamaaina to join the TBR Escape Club and consider the TBR for their staycation experience. We'll be sure to go again before the year is over! A special mahalo goes out to Jan Kribel for assisting our family with our reservation needs.
