Universal Orlando Resort Family Friendly Restaurants
Bice Loews Portofino Bay•Orlando, FL •497-593-1415 Bice (pronounced Bee-Chay) is an Italian restaurant located on the piazza at Loews Portofino Bay at Universal. Bice is kid-friendly but also great for a date night out. It's a chain with 16 international locations, including the one in Orlando. The restaurant serves northern Italian cuisine and has some inspired menu items like ravioli stuffed with beef short rib and spinach, and pasta is rolled daily. There is outdoor seating open seasonally, and great views of the piazza. Definitely try the gelati for dessert. |
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co 6000 Universal Boulevard•Orlando, FL •407-903-0044 Live many of the other restaurants located in Universal's CityWalk, Bubba Gump is a chain with restaurants all over the country. The Universal location has a funky modern vibe and a friendly staff, it's a fun place to go for seafood-loving families. The menu is large enough to please everyone, and includes plenty of items that don't come from the sea, like burgers, chicken and salads. If it's shrimp you're after, try the Cajun shrimp appetizer and shrimp tacos for dinner. There's a build-your-own sundae for the kids. They'll also love trying on a cast of Forrest Gump's running shoes in front of the restaurant -- and if you want to be really touristy, there's a souvenir shop. |
Emeril's Tchoup Chop 6300 Hollywood Way•Orlando, FL •407-503-2467 Located at Loews Royal Garden hotel, Emeril's Tchoup Chop has Asian and Polynesian-inspired dishes like steamed pork and Asian vegetables, edamame fried rice, as well as a small selection of sushi. The restaurant is open and airy and you'll get great food without the formality, along with wonderfully attentive waiters. For lunch there is a build-your-own noodle bowl, and a build-your-own bento box, as well as a children's menu. Tchoup Chop also serves a three-course brunch on Sundays with a keiki brunch box (fruit, breakfast eggroll and French toast) for kids 12 and under, for $13. |
Hard Rock Cafe 6050 Universal Boulevard•Orlando, FL •407-351-7625 The Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando, while no longer a novelty, is still a fun and entertaining place to eat with the kids. The building itself is enormous (it's the largest Hard Rock in the world) with huge pillars and a grand entrance; and inside there are treasures everywhere you look, including a real pink Cadillac that hangs over the bar. The walls are adorned with all kinds of fun rock-and-roll memorabilia. While the menu isn't anything special, it has the typical bar-type fare you'd expect like nachos and potato skins, BBQ ribs, burgers, pizza and salads. There is a separate kids' menu with hot dogs and mac and cheese . The food is good and the service is excellent. Be sure to make reservations in advance. |
Three Broomsticks Islands of Adventure•Orlando, FL Eat at Three Broomsticks in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to experience the place (and so the kids can say they ate there) more than for the food, which while fine by amusement-park standards, isn't winning any awards. Even so, kids should like the fish and chips and shepard's pie, at this cafeteria-style eatery, and you have to try the famous butterbeer. If you don't get it here, you'll wait in line for it outside. If you must resort to the kids' menu, there is mac and cheese and chicken fingers. Three Broomsticks also serves an English breakfast. |
