Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. 1000 Universal Studios Blvd.•Universal City, CA •818-753-4867 On the CityWalk, sizable Bubba Gump attracts hordes of families with its many varieties of shrimp, from coconut shrimp to the "Southern charmed." The Baja tacos are tasty and prove popular. The children's menu offers popcorn shrimp, pepperoni pizza, mac and cheese, chicken strips, and fish and chips. Kids can build their own sundae for only $3. |
Buca di Beppo 1000 Universal Studios Blvd.•Universal City, CA •818-509-9463 If you like pasta, here's where to get a oodles of it. This busy restaurant serves big portions of Southern Italian fare family-style, with fun and casual flair. On offer are pizza, pasta, ribs, gnocchi, calamari, and much more. |
International Cafe 100 Universal City PlazaUpper Lot•Universal City, CA International Cafe has some of the healthier food inside the park. Sandwiches, veggie salads, fruit salads, granola with fruit and yogurt, soup, and pastries are among the counter-service fare available. Espresso, Tazo tea, and beer and wine are also on offer. The indoor seating at wooden tables inside helps to lend a casual cafe-like feel. It's near the Special Effects Stage. |
Mel's Diner 100 Universal City PlazaUpper Lot•Universal City, CA At this popular in-park eatery with an air of old jukebox diner, the inevitable lines move quickly, as folks grab their items from under the heat lamp, pay, and park themselves in an indoor booth or outdoor patio table. Burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, malts, and more are for grabs. My chicken sandwich was decent, though my preschooler ignored her chicken fingers and dove into her fries (another kids'-meal main option is the cheeseburger). Mel's Diner, along with the Jurassic Cafe, is among the participating eateries in the park's All You Can Eat Pass program. |
The Jurassic Cafe 100 Universal City PlazaLower Lot•Universal City, CA Burgers and pizza are the mainstay of this fast food-style eatery in the Lower Lot. The interior, with its dinosaur motif, offers lots of seating; outdoor patio seating is limited. It opens at 11 a.m., so if you are hungry before then, eat in the Upper Lot or on CityWalk. |
