Arrowhead Lodge Resort 10473 Waltz Road•Lake Kabetogama, MN •866-847-7118 They serve three meals a day at this restaurant and resort, including eggs and blueberry pancakes, homemade soups and breads, sandwiches, salads and entrees. It's definitely kid-friendly. Resort guests can sign up for the junior camper program to learn wilderness skills. |
Ash-Ka-Nam Resort and Lodge 10209 Ash River Trail•Ash River, MN •800-950-1081 With a cozy cabin-like dining room and spacious patio with views of the Ash River, this is a place to sit down for a grilled walleye sandwich, whiskey sirloin, barbecue ribs or kids meals, including spaghetti and meatballs. They also serve big breakfasts for filling up before a hike or boat ride into the park. |
Kec's Kove 10428 Gamma Road•Lake Kabetogama, MN •218-875-2841 This laid-back 10-cabin resort has a public dining room with a log bar. They serve steak, fish, sandwiches and shrimp -- and good fish tales on the side (with bait to go). Like the other resorts, it's accessible from the water. |
Kettle Falls Hotel 10502 Gamma road•Ray, MN •218-240-1726 The menu is pretty basic at this Voyageurs institution, but lunch or dinner here makes for a great excursion using one of the park's touring boats. Sitting on the screened porch overlooking the lake can be an ideal way to ponder the history of this 1910 hotel with slanted floors. Accessible only by water and perched on the cusp of Canada, it was a popular with lumberjacks after the isolation of the woods. Prohibition bootleggers found the border location mighty convenient. If the walls could talk, kids wouldn't be allowed. The location is so remote that it's 15 miles from the nearest road: catch the shuttle bus from Ash River Trail. |
Sandy Point Lodge 10606 Gamma Rd•Lake Kabetogama, MN •218-875-2615 This family resort with indoor or patio dining lies just west of the park's Lake Kabetogama Visitor Center with nice lake views and water access. |
