The Westin Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Fl was not only beautiful but great for kids. It's only about 15 minutes from the airport, which is key when travelling with kids, and literally across the street from the beach. When we checked in, they more +gave our daughter (15 months old) a little bag with outlet covers, alcohol wipes, band aids, a hat, and a rubber duck. SO CUTE! And good for us to be able to pseudo-baby proof the hotel room. They gave my cousins (ages 5 and 10) and book bag with a sun hat, coloring book, map, crayons and other goodies. Right from check-in we knew this place was going to be good for kids.

The pool area had covered cabanas that were great to lounge on, fully shaded from the sun and pool toys for everyone to use. There were employees in the pool area that set up your lounge chair or cabana with a sheet and towels. They really made you feel like you were on vacation and being catered to. They did have a Westin Kids Club which was $10 an hour for older kids (4 years+). Our cousins actually begged their parents to do it and made a cute arts & crafts project while they were there. The beach was so nice, the waves weren't too crazy and the hotel provided lounge chairs (free) and umbrellas (daily charge). And since it was so close to the hotel, we easily walked back and forth from the beach to the pool during the day.

The hotel had two restaurants and a Starbucks. There is a kid friendly restaurant right on the pool deck with good eats that also served you at your lounge chairs. And there was a nicer restaurant, Shula's that had a great breakfast selection.

One other great things about the hotel, not only did they give great restaurant recommendations, but since our GPS failed, they printed out directions for us wherever we had to go â" the concierge was awesome... as was our whole stay!
