We had never been to Aruba, or the Carribean for that part. I remember looking out of the window of the airplane and seeing the turqoise bluish, green water. It was so beautiful and a color blue I had never seen before. It was not humid when we more +stepped outside and then travelled to our hotel, The Westin. There was a nice cool breeze, which I had read about in many travel books before the trip. The hotel was located on Eagle Beach, which is one of the beaches in Aruba. It was right on the beach, which was very convenient having a three year old, who becomes tired and needs to be carried.

The hotel has its own private beach for hotel guests along with chairs and umbrellas which can be reserved. There were people lounging on the sand and swimming in the water. There was also a nice, cool breeze. The water was warm and refreshing. There was also a dock not far away and people were diving into the water. My son and husband took part in this.

The hotel lobby was modern and inviting. The staff was very accommodating, professional, and friendly.

The hotel also has many tropical birds such as parrots, a toucan, a cockatoo, and macaws which have been trained to speak. One said, "Crackers," and another said "Aloha." My three year old loved them and missed them very much when she had to go home. This is really great for families!!

We ate two times at one of the italian restaurants which had very good food. We also tried the Chinese/Japanese restaurant and liked our meals as well. This restaurnt has a very large fish tank with many unusual varieties of fish and kept my children entertained until their food arrived. We also had breakfast at the buffet every morning and the variety of foods was outstanding. There was cereal (hot and cold), juices, pancakes, potatoes, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, an omlette station, and again the staff was very attentive, courteous, and professional. The hotel also had a good casual restaurant overlooking the beach, which was also convenient to get a fast meal and which had child-friendly foods.

We were invited to a manager's reception on one of the days we were there because we participate in the points program. The manager of the hotel introduced himself to all of the guests present. He was very friendly and courteous. He even had a contest whereby those present could win prizes. We ended up winning a dinner at one of the restaurants!! We were already having a great time and this was certainly something we did not expect.

We had two adjoining rooms with plenty of space for five people. There was a balcony overlooking the pool and part of the ocean for each room. We also spent alot of time at the pool which was quite large.

In addition, we noticed many lizards, some very small and some very large, roaming the property as
well as climbing up the trees!!

As for activities for families, the hotel puts together a daily schedule for its guests. On one day our family played bingo and won. There was also a chance to view the moon through a telescope on another night which was interesting.

Overall, we had a great time and did not have any complaints.
