Wonderful property if they weren't so pushy selling time shares

by Teramo48

A friend got the four of us a one bedroom suite. (A two bedroom was not available.)
The location is good and offers valet parking although it is rather expensive. The property has been upgraded beautifully--lovely lobby and public rooms. Our suite was wonderfully new, tastefully decorated and offered everything you could possibly want--more like a condo than hotel room. (Only lacked a stove.) My husband and I took the sleep sofa which was obviously so new that we had two nights of decent sleep. We did have trouble finding the linens for the sofa--the pillows were in the bedroom closet, but the rest were finally found in the coat closet after 3 phone calls to the front desk. Staff were friendly and efficient. I got the sales pitch when we first checked in but the young lady took my "no, thank you" seriously. When my husband called the front desk, the older lady would not let him hang up, constantly giving him the sales pitch.

Great location, nice apartments

by Traveleator

Location: Close to Union Street, adjacent to Tenderloin but safe at night, close to transport options
Hotel: One building, with elevator, didn't check for swimming/gym
Room: (#503) Apartment was one bedroom & a living room, both of decent size, well appointed, well furbished
Positives: Good location, good service, nice fixtures within the room, washer/dryer
Negatives: Main bed was too small, the sofa cum bed was bigger but creaked a lot
Ranking at time of writing: #3 of 70 Specialty Lodging

Let me start by saying that if the beds were (1) bigger in the bedroom and (2) less creaky in the living room then this place would be a 5 star.

The hotel is a time-share and has multiple owners, we rented it from one such owner on VRBO. The location is good with proximity to Union Square, Market Street (for transport), lots of shops, pubs, restaurants, groceries, pharmacies et al. While it is close to Tenderloin you won't come across much of the homeless people that SF is infamous for - that said I wouldn't recommend parking your car on the street outside, you'll have to suck it up and pay $30 to $50 a night. Check-in was smooth. If you attend their time-share promotion of 90 mins you'd get a night's parking waived off and served free breakfast. We couldn't attend. Service was great but they don't clean rooms until check-out; they will takeaway trash and replace towels upon request.

The hotel is posh and the lobby has a nice feel to it. We had a one bedroom apartment on the 5th floor (503) and the apartment was spacious with a big enough living room, a kitchenette (without a stove, but I had called ahead and requested for a electric skillet and while they hadn't assured us one they did manage to give us one on the day we checked in). They had a mini-fridge, microwave etc. The living room had a closet too. The bathroom was spacious as well. The bedroom was of decent size but like mentioned earlier the bed was a tad too small. There was enough wardrobe space and plentiful hangers, pillows, blankets etc. When the sofa cum bed was opened up the living did get a bit cramped but that's fine. The only issue was because of the spring mechanism the sofa cum bed creaked on every toss and turn.

The one bedroom apartment doesn't have a washer/dryer in the room but at the end of the corridor on every floor. Just make sure you don't get a room close to the laundry as that can be a bit noisy (may be mgmt should try to make that soundproof).

Apart from the beds everything was 5 star.

I would recommend this apart-hotel if one wants to stay in Lower Nob Hill.
