As a single Mom traveling with two kids; a daughter 11, and a son 14, I wanted to take
my kids someplace where we could enjoy our favorite activites. My kids & I love to snorkle & be in the ocean, we also love animals, nature, and more +learning about history, and culture.
I wanted to wrap up all of those things into our trip in 9 days, and ubove all I wanted to show them a cultural difference of life outside of the united States to appreciate other cultures other than their own. We had traveled to Mexico a few times before on Cruise ships, mainly in Cozumel.
I was always frustrated going on a cruise ship, because there was never enough time to see all of the beautiful places Mexico has to offer. I've cruised extensively, but this time we wanted to see more of Mexico, so I opted for an Allincluive Resort. After reading reviews on various websites, I decided Xpu- Ha, by Palace Resorts was the best option for us, & it did not disapoint!

Xpu- Ha by Palace, is the perfect place for Families that love nature, and want to reconnect!! Palace Resorts, is a chain of all-inclusive Resorts in Mexico, & the Dominican Republic. The coolest thing about Palace Resorts, is that when you stay at one Palace Resort, you can have Resort privlages ( play & Eat) at any of the other Palace Resorts in the area. This gave us a great opportunity to not only see the other gorgous Palace properties, but other parts of Mexico as well.
Our Resort Xpu-Ha was one of the most affordable of the Palace Resort chain, and the smallest of the Palace Resorts. Xpu-ha is charming & Rustic, & set in a jungle-like atmosphere, that is a bit like an animal santuary. The resort itself, does not have any ocean front rooms, but it is a very short walk, or golf cart ride to the beach located on the property. The place is bursting with wildlife; Codamondies that will visit you on your patio every morning, an abundance of exotic tropical birds, monkeys, Iguanas, flamingoes, deers ( Snakes, & crocodiles these are caged). There where also cats that the resort takes care of, & they are very friendly & will visit you on your patio, my daughter named them all & enjoyed visiting with them.

The ACCOMODATIONS are very unique, Rustic like bungalows ( fully airconditoned), with enormous wooden deck, ours looked over the deer sanctuary, & everymorning a family of deer would curiously watch us. The patio was surrounded by the most beautiful trees & tropical vegatation, I have ever seen, We had a huge hammock on our patio, comfy lounge chairs, & a small dinnette, We got up very early every morning to lay on the hammock, & listen to all the glorious peacful sounds of the jungle. The Location was perfect; very quiet & safe, very intimate Resort, but close to all of the Ruins; Tulum & Coba are less than an hour, & Akumal, less than 15 min, Playa Del carmen, a 15-20 min. Cab ride. Xcarret; less than 20 min. It's hard to pin-ponit the best thing about this Resort, the animals were awesome, but equally so was the staff!! The staff at XPU-Ha Resort are the warmest, most honest and hardworking people I have ever seen in all of my many travels. The staff knew my kids names by the 2nd day!! We went in June, & there were not that many kids around, but that was ok with my kids, because they got the staff pretty much to thmselves!! The staff was so much fun, & catered to their every need, so much that my kids ask all the time about when we can go back & see them, they still remember their names!! The staff became like old friends to us,everyday, everywhere everyone at Xpu-ha smiled at us & greeted us by name, incredible! My kids enjoyed playing water games with staff member Hydo, in the pool, they also loved Gabriel who gave us a upclose behind the scenes tour of the animals. The pool at Xpu-ha was never crowded, so we loved that, & as a conservative Mom, I also love that I did not see any " Drunks", or party goers hanging out there as well.

There was a neat Swim up bar at the Pool, my kids loved being able to sit up at the pool bar, & drink unlimited Strawberry ( non-alcoholic daiquiris), & virgin Pina Coladas. They ordered Hamburgers, & Chicken strips there, & said they made the best hamburgers anywhere!
For breakfast, we enjoyed a sit down service in their Restaurant with the most extensive breakfast menu, I have ever seen! For breakfast, the menu with made to order items were I swear 10 pages long! Anything you could ever think of; Pancakes, omelets of your choice, waffles, potatoes, fruit, cereal, sausages, they even had Chicken Enchiladas for breakfast!! My daughter loved eating Chicken enchiladas for breakfast, & since we were on vacation, I let her!!

For Dinner, we took a 15 min taxi ride to the sister resort Aventura Cove. Aventura Cove was very different. It was very Grand & elegant, & much larger. The Aventura Cove looked out at the most gorgeous view of the Coast. We enjoyed the various night time shows there, such as an amazing Brazilian- martial arts/ dancing team, a fire show, Michael Jackson show, & a Mexican folk show complete with a mechanical ridding bull, that was so much fun to participate in!

For dinner at Aventura Cove they had numerous options for the kids, a pizza/ pasta type restaurant, a fabulous Mexican restaurant, & an incredible steak house over looking the waves hitting the rocky coast. Our favorite was the Mexican restaurant, The waiters made flaming Mayan coffee at your table, that was very entertaining, & delicious! They also made home-made guacamole with tequila at your table, the best I've ever had!

As I said before, the location was perfect. The Resort often has wonderful promotion too, such as the 1,500 Resort Credit! we used the last promotion to visit several ruins. The tours were incredibly educational for all of us. We loved the beauty of Tulum, & my kids got a big kick of climbing up the pyramid at Coba, they said the view up there was amazing! We also Visited Akumal, ( 15 min cab ride) My kids swam with sea turtles there! Akumal was a neat small village filled with fun things for the kids to do, at very little cost. We also visit Yal-Ku lagoon, a beautiful lagoon, with crystal clear water beaming with tropical fish. There was so much to do there, & so many food choices there, I don't see how anyone could ever be bored!!

There were so many wonderful things about our vacation, I could write a novel! But, we met the most wonderful, warmest people in Mexico, people I will never forget. Some I even still e-mail, & exchange holiday cards! I never once felt unsafe, and we traveled around extensively. We took basic precautions when traveling, used good judgement, & common sense. We also felt it was an excellent value for the money! There is so much to do in Mexico, & we look forward to many vacations in Mexico, & with Palace Resorts!
