Unique and wonderful

by Dei304

Our family of 5 stayed for four nights at the Tree House Lodge. We decided to try a few of the houses so we had the opportunity to stay for a night in the Beach House Suite, a night in the Tree House and two nights in the Crystal House. Each house was unique and amazing. We especially loved the size of the Beach House Suite and it's closeness to the beach. It had an amazing 'upper terrace' area where we played cards at night and had coffee and breakfast in the morning. Perfect :) The Tree House was open and enchanting with it's suspension bridges. The Crystal House was open and fun with the mini golf. We sat in the open area looking up at howler monkeys swinging from tree to tree above us. The BEST feature of this stay was the courtesy, kindness and helpfulness of the staff, specifically Mauro and Maribel. They helped us with any questions or requests we had and were always smiling and a pleasure to see. The Tree House Lodge has an amazing (secluded) beach. Picturesque. And a short walk to Punta Uva Beach for kayaking. The Jaguar Rescue Foundation is a short drive away and well worth visiting. We experienced a private tour and highly recommend this excursion. We are grateful for the opportunity to experience this wonderful eco lodge, the people and the surrounding community.

Trip of a lifetime!

Please visit the Tree House Lodge if you are thinking about it and have the opportunity to do so. You'll be hard pressed to find a friendlier and more accommodating staff and owner and an experience as unique as this one. We stayed in the Tree House, which I recommend for nature lovers. The jacuzzi is incredible - they will light it for you and it will be ready at the time of your choosing. The lodge is a short walk to a beautiful beach, which is fantastic for swimming (watch for the coral but it's easy to avoid). You can walk the length of the beach and hike up to a viewpoint over the coast. (I also recommend taking the sea kayaking trip which the staff can set up for you - it's right down the beach and includes a short hike to the viewpoint, a paddle through crystal clear water and a jaunt down the river where the guide will point out sloths, everywhere). We recommend grabbing groceries at El Duende Gourmet, a short walk from the treehouse, and pizza at Pizzeria Pulcinella, also a short walk away. (Best pizza and appetizers we've ever had). Puerto Viejo is an 8 minute cab ride or so, and is a lot of fun to explore. It's picturesque, the locals are friendly, and there is some good food / music on the beach. Don't miss out on the Jaguar Rescue Center nearby either!
If you stay at the tree house, be prepared to hear and see Toucans, howler monkeys, agoutis, and brilliant orange and blue crabs everywhere you look~ and to enjoy open air showers beneath the beautiful rainforest canopy. It was a truly special experience, made better by the great staff (thanks Mauro & Maribel!). We will never forget it.
