10 Best Pet-Friendly Hotels for Families

Kimpton Hotels - Multiple Locations

When we think pets, we think Kimpton. All of the brand's hotels welcome pets -- regardless of size, weight or breed -- at no additional cost. This means your rabbit, parrot and hamster can finally join you on a family excursion. Standard amenities include bowls, beds, toys and treats, but most locations offer even more.

Chicago's Hotel Allegro, for example, provides keepsake leashes and sWAG bags with water and snacks. The hotel also donates $5 per reservation to the Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago. At EPIC Hotel in Miami, pet guests receive a choice of two of the following services: a "Pawdicure and Shampoo" treatment; one hour of daily play time; one hour of dog walking at Flamingo Bark Park; or a massage for two humans.

Topnotch Resort - Stowe, Vt.

Topnotch Resort's staff loves dogs. That's why Fido stays free of charge in select rooms and receives turndown service with a plush bed and bowl. Dogs are encouraged to join their humans for activities throughout the hotel, including tea time, when they receive special treats. Pets are welcome in the spa, too -- a specially trained therapist will treat your dog to a Rover Reikei Massage!

When you travel to downtown Stowe, consult the hotel for pet-sitting services, or grab a leash and explore Wissener Woods. If your pup starts sniffing, he or she probably smells a bone -- complimentary treats can be found along the way!

The Colonnade Hotel - Boston

Courtesy of The Colonnade's VIPets Program, complimentary beds and food bowls are offered to pets, as are three brands of dry dog and cat food. Concierge provides walking services (for a small fee), and assists in arranging veterinary services, pet-sitting services, dog grooming and spa services. The hotel, located in Boston, also provides a list of pet-friendly parks, such as Boston Common, and nearby restaurants.

Aqua Resorts - Multiple Locations

Make sure your furry friend is adorned with a colorful lei -- as all pets (and people) bound for Hawaii should be -- and head to an Aqua Resort. Most locations, exclusive to Hawaii, offer pet-friendly accommodations. Families are allowed to bring up to two pets that weigh up to 40 pounds each. They receive treats, bowls, beds and complimentary toys. The hotel requires a small fee per pet, per night, plus a refundable security deposit.

The Fairmont San Francisco

Here's another one for your canine companion -- The Fairmont San Francisco welcomes dogs that weigh up to 25 pounds, with special amenities and packages.

The Pampered Pooch Package features a gourmet dog treat, bottled water with a Fairmont dog bowl, a silver dog tag, use of complimentary dog beds, a waived pet cleaning fee, access to a variety of designer pet products and a map of local places to walk your pup. There's also the Pampered Pet Club with special benefits for your pet's preferences. Membership is complimentary and the perks begin upon arrival! While pets aren't allowed at all Fairmont Hotels, many properties host Canine Ambassadors, who like to join guests on walks or just relax with them around the hotel.

Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park - New York City

The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park pulls out the stops for everyone from your cats to the "resident" horses across the street. Cats and dogs under 60 pounds are welcome to stay, and the hotel offers treats, bowls, beds and the like. The hotel's concierge is happy to provide walking services, and will arrange veterinary services, spa services and just about anything you request for your pet.

Additionally, staff members look out for the horses that provide carriage rides around the Big Apple. They're usually stationed across the street from the hotel, and hotel staff invites kids to assist in feeding them.

Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch - Scottsdale, Ariz.

The Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch proudly offers 4Paws, a pet-friendly program, and deems it a luxurious alternative to boarding. Eligible pets must weigh 40 pounds or less, though larger pets may be welcomed at the resort's discretion.

Upon arrival, each dog receives all-natural treats; a toy; "Pet-in-Room" door sign; bags and disposable gloves for cleaning up; a list of local pet services; a list of parks and walking routes; a cozy bed and food and water dishes with a floor mat. Cats get a toy, litter box, bed and dishes with a floor mat. As if that's not enough, the hotel also offers special treats -- from appetizers to desserts -- on its 4Paws Beastro Menu.

W Hotels - Multiple Locations

W Hotels are another great option for those traveling with pets. At check-in, pets receive a toy, treat, W Hotels pet tag, clean-up bags and a welcome letter with information about special pet services available through concierge. Inside your room, you'll find a custom W pet bed, food and water bowls with a floor mat, "Pet-in-Room" door sign, and a special treat at turndown. The concierge will also arrange dog sitting, dog walking, grooming services and more.

The Lodge at The Stanley - Estes Park, Colo.

When you stay at The Lodge at The Stanley, part of the historic (and haunted) Stanley Hotel near Rocky Mountain National Park, your pet will enjoy the Preferred Pooch Program. Plush dog beds and bowls are available, and there are plenty of walks to be had around the property on Lake Estes. Plus, Midge Knerr, the innkeeper, serves homemade peanut butter and banana biscuits!

Loews Hotels - Multiple Locations

Loews Hotels provide pet tags, bowls and treats, and various dog and cat leashes and collars (different sizes), rawhide bones, scratch poles, catnip, litter boxes and cleaning materials are also available. They also take things a step further than many pet-friendly hotels -- they've partnered with Banfield Pet Hospitals to offer medical care when needed. Pets are eligible for a free examination and 15-percent discount on services.

You'll pay a small, one-time fee per stay when you bring your pet to a Loews Hotel.
