1. A Gory Getaway to Universal Studios

Universal Studios goes all out to celebrate Halloween, joining with its partner hotels to offer a deal that’s a scream. Beginning at $325 per person, this getaway includes a three-night stay at a partner hotel such as Loews Portofino Bay, two-day tickets to both Universal Orlando theme parks, early admission to Islands of Adventure, admission to Halloween Horror Nights, a souvenir photo, and free transportation between the hotel and the Universal Orlando.

2. A Halloween in Hershey

What better place to trick-or-treat than the home of Hershey’s Chocolate? With this special package visit this Pennsylvania town and its theme parks in October and enjoy Halloween-themed fun. Rates at Hotel Hershey start at $549 per night, or select Hershey Lodge for $389 per night. Both include accommodations, breakfast with Hershey’s characters, as well as admission to Hershey Gardens, The Hershey Story, and Hersheypark in the Dark.

3. Ghost Town Weekends at Rocking Horse Ranch

A visit to the Rocking Horse Ranch in N.Y. during weekends in October will have you staying at a ghost town. Book this special offer with weekend events including a monster-filled corn maze and a 60-foot-long dark blow-up pit, perfect for the older kids who want to scream. The younger set will enjoy a tiny fun house as well as decorating pumpkins, having their faces painted, and participating in carnival games. There are also horse-drawn carriage rides, scary movie classics, an indoor water park with slides and games, a Wii room and a nearby orchard for apple picking. On Halloween weekend, kids can go trick-or-treating and dance at a costume ball. All-inclusive packages are available.

4. Ghoulish Getaway in the Green Mountains

Spend Halloween weekend at the Green Mountain Inn and your family will receive two-night accommodations, free full breakfast daily, and a lantern tour of the historic village. You’ll also receive a box of handmade Halloween candies at check in, and enjoy your pick of pumpkins at a nearby pumpkin patch. Rates are valid between October 19 and November 2 and start as low as $123 per person, per night for a luxury room.

5. Halloween at Disney World

While Disney World throws its own Halloween Party, a stay at its nearby Swan and Dolphin resorts continues the fun. Book this special package and families can head to the beach for a campfire with S’mores, and trick or treat around the resort’s restaurants. Then, when hitting the theme parks, be sure to visit Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Kids (and grownups) can come in costume and watch a special parade and Happy HalloWishes fireworks show, as well as trick or treat along Main Street USA.

6. Howl-O-Ween at the Wolf (Great Wolf, That Is)

Great Wolf Lodge may be known for its indoor water park that keeps kids splashing all winter long, but between October 15 and 31, the Niagara Falls location becomes haunted with family activities. With the Howl-O-Ween at the Wolf package, enjoy a Monster Mash family dance, trick-or-treating through the haunted forest, pumpkin carving, costume contests, and Wolf Science science programs. Of course, that’s on top of the resort’s three pools, wave pool, lazy river, 13 waterslides, four-story water fort, arcade and more!

7. Lake Lanier Islands’ Haunted Nights of Lights

Just outside of Georgia, nestled among the pines and the fall foliage, is Lake Lanier Island Resort. The resort is offering a special Halloween package that includes entry into their special Haunted adventure. Start with a three-mile drive through a themed and animated Halloween light display, and end at the Haunted Village featuring a haunted maze, fun house, marshmallow roast and carnival rides. Rates at the resort start at $199 per night, and a family of four receives accommodations, breakfast, one vehicle pass through the Haunted Nights of Lights, and amusement rides for up to two children.

8. Loews Spooky Suite Package

A visit to San Diego can conjure up a scary good time, especially with the Spooky Suite Package at Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Stay between October 25 and 31 in the Halloween-themed suite decked out by Party City, and receive a loot bag with tricks and treats, a “ghoulish” amenity at check-in, and a selection of costumes from the Party City Costume Catalogue, including sizes for adults, children, babies and even pets. Five day advanced booking and costume selection three days prior to arrival are required. This package is available at 13 Loews Hotels in the U.S. (not including it’s three Universal Orlando resorts) with rates starting at $207.

9. Mohonk Mountain House’s Halloween Haunts

Surrounded by the fall foliage of the Adirondacks, the Mohonk Mountain House is hosting a special Halloween weekend event. Stay October 28 to 30 and along with accommodations, your family will enjoy the resort’s Gala Halloween Costume Ball, a Creepy Campfire with haunted storytelling, a pumpkin-carving workshop, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet live timber wolves in a Magic and Mystery of the Wolf session, and trick-or-treating. Rates start at $236 per person per night and include three daily meals, afternoon tea and cookies, and most resort activities.

10. Skytop Lodge’s Spook-Tacular Weekend

More fall foliage can be found in Pennsylvania’s Poconos, where the Skytop Lodge is offering a special Halloween family package October 28 to 30. With your family’s stay, you’ll enjoy the resort’s Masquerade Ball, a special Monster Mash Party for parents, pumpkin carving, sing-a-longs, tractor-drawn hayrides, and trick or treating. And a bit more unusual, you’ll also enjoy Ghost Hunting 101, where your family will join a real paranormal investigation with the Pocono Paranormal Research team. Rates start at $376 and include accommodations, meals and most resort activities.
