Overview

Of the few hotels in Alaska’s northernmost city, Top of the World is the newest. Its deluxe rooms are ideal for a small family, with two double beds and room for a crib or rollaway. It also includes a kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave. Ask for a room with an ocean view. Other amenities include a fitness center, free Wi-Fi, blackout drapes, and a laundry room. The onsite restaurant, NiÄ¡Ä¡ivikput, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. You’ll want to try the local delicacy of reindeer soup.

The Top of the World Hotel is located a mile from the airport, where you can be picked up with the hotel’s free shuttle. Barrow is a small town, so most attractions and restaurants are within walking distance. The Arctic Ocean is a few yards from your hotel. Start exploring the shoreline at the iconic Whale Bone Arch, watching for marine wildlife and admiring the panoramic views. You might even dip your toe in the frigid ice-filled waters. Also near the hotel is the Inupiat Heritage Center, an amazing museum that tells the story of the people who have lived in the area for more than 1,500 years. For its comfort, quality and scenic views, The Top of the World Hotel is a great choice for your family adventure in Barrow.

Heart of the town

by ahniwaker

The hotel is not only a good place to stay in town, but a great place to meet the community. The restaurant is pretty good. Wifi is offered, but you are in Barrow so be patient, it's slow. It's a dry town, and you're not allowed to bring outside liquor to the hotel. Free shuttle to airport.

Pricey but really enjoyable

The staff is fantastic. The rooms are comfortable and modern. I loved the murals and artwork in the hotel. Also we ate a number of meals there and all were tasty served by super friendly staff. It is expensive but you must realize you are hundreds of miles from building supply stores and it Mets the standards of a nice hotel serving many guests from small villages. You can even take a dip in the Arctic Ocean less than 100 yards from the hotel.
