The Tobacco Company Restaurant

1201 E Cary St., Richmond, 23219, VA

If you prefer your meal with a hefty slice of history, The Tobacco Company Restaurant can’t be beat. Located in an historic downtown section of Richmond, Shockoe Slip, the restaurant’s building was a tobacco warehouse circa 1866. The brickwork, heavy beams, and columns all belong to yesteryear’s world. The restaurant was renovated and opened as The Tobacco Company Restaurant in 1977.

The four-story spot boasts two dining floors overlooking an atrium, a cocktail lounge with live music, and a night club and dance floor. The menu is layered in elegant salads, soups, and sandwiches for lunch and pasta, seafood, and steak for dinner. The dessert menu is loaded in opulent calories that include butter cake for two, key lime pie, and English trifle. While valet parking is available, a parking deck is located on 12th Street between Canal and Cary Streets.

You’ll find both a children’s lunch and dinner menus with word searches on the back, and (usually) colored pencils to go with. High chairs and booster seats are also on hand. Reservations a smart idea.
