Moorhead Dairy Queen

Restaurant

Moorhead Dairy Queen

24 Eight Street S., Moorhead, 56560, MN

While franchises don’t usually make our list, this one qualifies as a local and arguably national landmark that invented the Dilly Bar (by accident). It still makes them by hand and has been serving seasonal ice cream treats since 1949. Locals gather under the big umbrellas on the patio for menu items from the national franchise, but also items unique to this location, including the original Blizzard flavors, barbeque sandwiches, Monkey Tails, Mr. Malties and Chipper sandwiches. The restaurant sits along Highway 75, the “Historic King of Trails,” that runs from Winnipeg, Canada, to the Gulf of Mexico.

9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday during the summer. During spring and fall, it closes 30 minutes earlier Monday through Thursday and Sundays.
