Overview

A Channel View B&B lives up to its name. Sitting high up above the Kodiak Channel, the house offers spectacular views of the water, mountains, islands and wildlife. The largest room is ideal for a family of four, with a queen bed and sleeper sofa, full kitchen, washer/dryer and DVD player. Most of all, though, a spacious deck with comfy chairs to simply sit and admire that view is the best. If you take the big room, breakfast is self-catering, so you can enjoy your morning meal on the deck.

The B&B sits on a quiet, residential street not far from downtown Kodiak, with many shops and restaurants less than a half-mile away. There is no shortage of fine dining establishments serving the freshest Alaskan seafood you’ve ever had. Several kid-friendly attractions are close by, including the Kodiak Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center and the Kodiak Fisheries Aquarium. For a full day of hiking and history, Fort Abercrombie State Park is only 4 miles away. There’s plenty to do on the island, and the extremely friendly owners of A Channel View B&B will be happy to help you make the most of your Alaskan family vacation.

Wonderful hosts with gorgeous views

by Jennifer B

Our B & B hosts were so gracious to share with us their beautiful home overlooking the ocean. They shared with us things we could do of which we did schedule 2 trips that they recommended and it was fantastic! We especially liked learning from them about the island and it is truly a special place! She had binders full of brochures and articles that were in our room so we could read at our leisure about the area. It is very private and quiet.

Wonderful stay with great hosts!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at A Channel View. We stayed in the apartment, and it was spotless and newly renovated with a gorgeous view of the water and islands across the channel. It also includes parking and a washer and dryer in the actual unit. Mary and Ron served us a secret pancake recipe with fresh salmonberries that Mary had picked the day before, a smoothie using the same berries and other fruits, and reindeer sausage. It was delicious! The other days, Mary and Ron left us amazing pastries, quiches, yogurt, fresh fruit, bagels, toast, cereal...basically anything you could possibly want for breakfast. They sat down with us and went over maps of Kodiak with tons of tips (restaurants, hikes, beaches, bars, places to get locally-made souvenirs, and more) that made our stay even more enjoyable. Ron even let us borrow his fossil tools for fossil beach and growlers for the brewery! We truly felt like family! During our stay in Kodiak, some highlights were bear viewing with Sea Hawk, Ft Abercrombie State Park, fossil beach (whales literally spouting right next to us as we were out on the boulders during low tide, starfish, fossils), hiking Pyramid mountain, seeing so many bald eagles, and so much more. We loved Kodiak and we hope to come back to A Channel View some day, hopefully sooner rather than later!
