Very Nice Historic Lodge..but

by Jim B

We spent the night of October 31st here..and overall our stay at Abe Martin Lodge was pretty nice.

We really enjoyed sitting in front of the huge fireplace and visiting with some of my wife's family who live in the area, and the food in the lodge restaurant was outstanding. The king bed was very comfortable and the room furnishings were quite unique.

But, there were some major problems.

First, there were no towels in our room when we checked in. We had to go to the front desk and ask for them on our way to the lodge restaurant for dinner. The towels were in the bathroom when we got back...but they were old, thin and frayed.

Second, the shower/tub was very dingy and stained as was the ceramic tile floor in the bathroom. There is no counter space of any kind in the bathroom...just a sink.

Finally, the hallways are very dimly lit and the carpets are dingy and worn looking..it reminded me of the "back alley" scenes from TV and movies.

Not the worst hotel experience I have had...but far from the best.
