Overview

The Saltwater Lodge is the only beachfront lodge in Seward. Its clean and comfortable rooms look out over the wild and scenic Resurrection Bay and a long pebble beach. Ideal for families is a two-bedroom suite with four queen beds, a living room and balcony. Other amenities include refrigerator, microwave and a free continental breakfast. There are several common areas for guests, including a big deck over the beach where anyone can use the BBQ grill. The owners also run their own excellent whale watching and glacier viewing tours, as well as fishing charters. Right next door to the lodge is a kayak rental company.

The Lodge sits on a beautiful pebble beach just over 2 miles south of historic downtown Seward, where you’ll find a great number of interesting shops and restaurants. Kids will want to spend most of the day at the Alaska Sealife Center, the state’s biggest and best aquarium. The Seward waterfront is a starting point for trips into Kenai Fjords National Park and nearby Holgate Glacier, and you’ll find several experienced guided tour operators in town if you aren’t able to book a trip with the good folks at your lodge. For its beachfront location and convenient boat tours, the Alaska Saltwater Lodge is a great choice for your Alaskan family vacation.

Wonderful Stay

by JenandLyle

Our family of 5 stayed in the cottage for 2 nights. it was very comfortable and so well-appointed, down to a bag of coffee for the coffee pot. But the beach/ocean views were the highlight. We also took the Kenai Fjords, wildlife whale watching trip which was a lot of fun. We saw several pods of orcas, seal lions, seals, sea otters, puffins and of course the beautiful glaciers. It was so quiet by the beach....a very peaceful location. Would definitely go back.

Wonderful stay!

We stayed at Saltwater Lodge for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Kathleen and Jim have a little hidden gem on the bay. The 4 of us were very comfortable, stayed in 2 nights and just relaxed with the incredible views. Had friends over and they were so impressed with our sweet cottage. Saw a Humpbake breach on our our way to the cottage. The cottage is lovely with stunning views. We also booked the Whale watching, fishing trip. One of the highlights of our trip. Captain Stan and Clay were a lot of fun to be with, and very knowledgeable. We saw so many whales, orcas, puffin, otters, eagles! Also caught halibut, rockfish and black bass. Clay filleted our fish and bagged it up for us. Saw the Holgate glacier, amazing. Kathleen’s treats on the trip were an added plus, the brownies and the rice krispy treats were the best we’ve ever had. I would love the recipe!
