When onetime Broadway dancer Marta Beckett came across the then-abandoned building Amargosa Opera House, she decided to rehab the space to create a theater for her own performances. Over four years she painted murals detailing a 16th century audience on the walls. Her colorful artwork can also be seen throughout the adjacent hotel. Though Beckett retired in 2012, family-friendly ballet performances and marionette shows still take place November through May, and a caretaker gives tours of the space, which should impress little artists, on request. Tours are $5 per person; ticket prices for performances range from $20 to $25.
