American Visionary Art Museum

800 Key Hwy, Baltimore, 21230, MD

While in Baltimore, allow your children to be inspired with a trip to the American Visionary Art Museum. At the AVAM, children are given the opportunity to see art without boundaries, created by people who have respectfully chosen to disregard the traditional styles which have defined “art” for centuries.

In choosing the work displayed in its exhibits, the AVAM focuses less on skillfully trained masters of traditional artistic methods, and more on those who have developed and honed the skills involved in the intuitive, organic process of creating beautiful and complex masterpieces. Their exhibits demonstrate that art isn’t always born in a classroom, but can also be born from the heart.

The museum contains over 4,000 pieces of permanent visionary art, as well as multiple exhibits which change throughout the year, depending on the museum’s thematic selections.

Families can arrange docent-led tour of the museum, but are asked to contact the AVAM’s Group Visits Coordinator, Beka Bridges, by phone or e-mail at: (410) 244-1900 x216 | groupvisits@avam.org.

The American Visionary Art Museum is open Tuesday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $15.95 for adults, $9.95 for students and children, and free for children ages six and under.
