Anna Maria Island Historical Museum

Anna Maria Island Historical Museum

402 Pine Ave., Anna Maria, FL

Fittingly tiny for a small taste of island history, this former-life icehouse, circa 1920, is stuffed with photos, maps, records, books, a new beaches lifestyle exhibit, a seashell collection, and other nicely arranged memorabilia. The kids’ favorite part of the complex will be the old windowless, roofless jail decorated with funny graffiti — a great Instagram opp. Another historic cottage, Belle Haven, is furnished with 1920s period pieces and occupies a lovely garden.

January-March 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday; April-December 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday-Friday. Closed September.

Knowledgeable staff, offered great info. Fun to walk around outside as well. The jail is cool and grounds are in a nice location.
Fantastic museum!

This was our first visit inside the actual museum. We've visited the jail and the cottage on the property, but never hit the time just right when the museum was open. We are so glad…
