Big Sur’s winding coastal roads make for a fabulous drive. Hit hard by wildfires and mudslides in the last couple of years, areas of the road between Los Angeles and Big Sur are still closed, but from Monterey to Big Sur, remain open. The grand Bixby Bridge, built in 1932, is 714 feet across Bixby Creek and one of the most photographed structures in the area.
