Kids will likely overlook the tragic romantic backstory that’s the starring attraction for many adult visitors to historic Boldt Castle, a Thousand Islands landmark. For younger visitors, a new audio tour offers interactive appeal, providing an engaging way to learn about design and architecture of the former estate of storied millionaire George Boldt, owner of the Waldorf Astoria. Boldt Castle is accessible only by water, so you’ll need to take a boat tour, board a shuttle or dock your own boat in order to visit. There is a snack bar onsite, as well as designated areas for picnicking.
