Attraction

Cape Henlopen State Park

15099 Cape Henlopen Drive, Lewes, DE

Cape Henlopen offers something for the entire family. Lounge and play on the beach overlooking calm Delaware Bay waters or the surf of the Atlantic Ocean. Hike or bike the numerous trails. Go fishing, camping, horseback riding, picnicking or visit Fort Miles. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Restrooms, bath houses with showers and changing areas and food concessions can be found near several of the beaches. Families will also find playgrounds, an 18-hole disc golf course and basketball courts.

The Cape Henlopen Lighthouse offers excellent photo opportunities from the beach at the Point. The lighthouse is situated at the mouth of the Delaware bay along a “breakwater barrier” at the point of the Cape and still protects boats from rough seas.

The annual kite festival held in March is something special to see with kite flying contests and demonstrations. Parents can also register kids for several different types of weekly summer camps.
