Cave of the Winds

Attraction

Cave of the Winds

Goat Island, Niagara Falls, 14303, NY

For this unique, yet seemingly less-talked-about attraction, you’ll have to stop in a locker room to put on special shoes and a yellow poncho (or bring your own gear), then take an elevator 175 feet down into Niagara Gorge to get up close and personal with the Bridal Veil Falls. As rushing water pounds against rocks and sprays you with water and mist, there is no doubt the power behind the falls.

For a truly unforgettable experience, climb to the Hurricane Deck, which brings you closest to the falls — about 20 feet out from the massive wonder. The brave make their way to a small corner of the wooden platforms and let the falls tumble over them. To get that close to the Falls, you’ll need to do some climbing up and down stairs — but there is another ledge further away that’s perfect for families with small children. This is the perfect vantage point to see rainbows in the mist — even at night. Also, you can see spectacular fireworks from here on Fridays, Sundays and holidays.

The Cave of the Winds is only open spring through fall, as the decks need to be removed for winter and the damaging cold. Tickets are $33 per person 13 and up, or $26 for children 6 to 12. (Children 5 and under are free to all Niagara Falls USA park attractions.)
