Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

4250 Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Rd., Colorado Springs, CO

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is the only mountain zoo in the U.S., sprawled across 140 scenic acres in Colorado Springs. Highlights include the chance to hand-feed giraffes and budgies (Australian parakeets), along with interactive play at The Loft, where young kids can learn what it’s like to be an animal trainer, care expert, veterinarian or zoo expert.

Other family fun includes the Mountaineer Sky Ride (like a ski lift) for a birds-eye view of the zoo; My Big Back Yard, another hands-on play complex; a carousel; and animal shows. Animal encounters for teens and adults are also offered — there’s something for every age. Consider the Starlight Safari for a unique experience that includes S’mores!

Fun Fact: Guests of Cheyenne Mountain Resort enjoy a Zoo Breakfast on Saturdays in the summer, courtesy of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It’s a fun chance for kids to get up close with the critters!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
