The kids will have a whale of a tale to tell after they climb inside a life-sized replica of a humpback whale at this popular children’s museum. It’s just one of the exhibits that focuses on the natural history of Maine — others include a lobster boat in which kids can done foul weather gear and haul up traps, and a recreation of a Maine forest where they can learn about woodland animals and sustainable logging. Round that out with a space shuttle, a car repair shop, a fire truck, a touch pool, and a ball room, and the little ones could easily while away the better part of a day learning and playing.
